I thought when I said "I wasn't talking about Khan" that would clear things up but I guess that doesn't work for fightbeat. My point to Neil is that Floyd is overall a boring champion. You know when he is going to fight, where the fight will be, what kind of opponent they'll pick and how the fight will end. May/Sep, Las Vegas, a second tier guy from a weight class below, and by decision. EVERY TIME.
so it sounds like youre implying he'll fight khan next september at MGM. would not shock me. although that is not a guaranteed decision for mayweather jr. he fits the rest of your criteria. 2 of his last 4 fights were vs bigger men, as well.
yup. Actually, since Marquez pretty much all his opponents except Guerrero have been bigger than him.
Bigger on the scale at fight time has fuck all to do with what I said about weight class. Maidana lost to Khan at 140 and then lost to Alexander at 147 and he even used the excuse "this is not my weight class" for the Alexander loss. This EARNED him a shot at Floyd's title. Oh well.
Floyd just announced the date for his next title fight. September 13th. SHOCKER. Opponent and location TBD. Las Vegas and someone who has lost a title shot at 147 recently. Bradley, maybe. Fits the recipe.
You might think Khan is more entertaining, but there is absolutely no question that Floyd is by far the better fighter. The only area where Khan is better than Floyd is speed. Floyd has the better footwork, MUCH higher ring IQ, and better defense. He also has a much better chin.
I honestly don't know why people think a Floyd-Khan fight would be competitive. Floyd would time him after 2 rounds. We all know who the better fighter between the two is.
Fair points. He is a pleasure to watch due to how ridiculously good he is at boxing, but overall he is a boring and predictable champion.
Floyd is also very good at adapting. He adjusted in the 9th round of the Hatton fight, and outboxed him. He also adjusted in the Judah fight, as well as the Mosley fight.
