Green is indeed a proven role player. He's improved his game so much. As mentioned earlier, how healthy the Spurs are will be key. If everyone is injury free, they'll not only beat OKC, but they'll get revenge against Miami for what happened last year.
If love to see Popovich take this title home. It will be a sad day in the NBA when he goes. Spurs should promote an assistant when he retires
The value of coaches is often overrated in the NBA. But in the case of Brooks, he's clearly out of his league against Pop, who it can be ARGUED is the best coach in league history. I just think the Spurs have added more pieces since 2012. OKC missing Ibaka, and Harden since then doesn't help.
I know the question is not for me but I'll say this. OKC needs a shake up in their roster and coaching staff. They can get it done with the Westbrook/Durant/Ibaka trio, but there's some fat you can trim there to make space for better players. Perkins need to be gone, he's useless and Adams is their future C, clearly. There are other serviceable C's that can playbackup behind Adams. Thabeet is useless too. Thabo seems to have reached his ceiling, he'll only get worse from now on. Keep Jackson, Collison, Trade Lamb and Jones if you're not gonna use them, they're rotting in that bench when they should've gotten more time during the regular season to develop their games and gain confidence. And please, fire Brooks. He's assistant coach material, and he's too stubborn to develop young players. Even Spoelstra is better at developing young guys (Norris Cole, for example). They need a coach who can implement an effective offensive system while emphasizing defense.
Go back and check my posts. I've been saying this shit for 2 years or more. In fact I've theorized for a long time that a lot of the heat Perkins would get for how much lack of offense the Thunder produced with him starting had a lot to do with Sefolosha being a starter as well. The guy should be shipped to the D-league. I'm more comfortable with Fisher or even Butler playing in his place. Brooks sucks. It's cool to have outstanding offensive players but to just put them out there, throw them the ball and say score, is akin to having a super talented player play basketball without working on his game from time to time. Having an offensive system gives your team something to fall back on when defenses are too keyed in, your top guys aren't hitting, and it gets the other players involved in the offense. Also Brooks was playing Lamb and Jones earlier in the season and Lamb was getting a lot of pub for how good he was developing and then all of a sudden Brooks cuts his minutes and kills all the confidence and growth he had accumulated. Now that they need Lamb, he's pretty much unreliable thanks to Brooks who wouldn't now a good lineup if it teabag dunked in his face.
OKC, despite being the smallest market in the league, has the most talent, and sadly, I don't think they're ever going to win a title due to sheer coaching incompetence
There's also a lack of a true leader on the team. Westbrook is the closest thing they have to a leader and you would think that KD would be it, but he packs it in when the going gets tough and starts playing passively, chucking up 3s. I think they need some big changes in the offseason.
