I've been watching. It's actually pretty cool.

Loved hearing Cormier talk about Henderson bringing him chicken while he was trying to stay on weight.

What he hell does Dana White bet on that got him booted from The a Palms?

 

Miztukagi just floored riveria but he has came around to give a few takedowns. good for him

That was ridiculously impressive from Cormier.

Cormier embarrassed Henderson. Not so easy to fight when you aren't augmented by steroids, clearly.

Frustrating to see such a mediocre fighter as a champion at the highest level,

Barao was pathetic. I won't take him seriously for the rest of his career. Andre should be embarrassed to train the guy.

 

Wasn't interested in this card, but went to see it anyway.

I was expecting a Barao showcase whitewash. The reason Faber was so happy is because he knows Dillashaw is far easier to beat than Renan.

For whatever reason-bad night, good punch, knee to body-Barao was like 50% of his usual self. Props to TJ, but his reign is destined to be brief.

Cormier looked huge compared to Hendo and he looked fat as ever. Funny how hard it is to change your general body shape. Cormier figures to be a real threat to Jones.

 

Do you guys think Fables beats Dilz?

 

The real point I took away from the Barao fight is that Cruz would likely best and Might Mouse could probably move up and beat him as well.

It seems, much like Condit versus Diaz, that a hole was exposed in Barao's stand-up. He can't deal with movement.

Jon Jones went from cleaning out the division to having very tough match-ups for the next 12 months against very different type fighters. Cormier has impressed me by getting down to 205 and keeping his explosiveness. I'll eat some crow because I didn't think chubby could make 205 without being half dead. I bet big on him to beat Henderson because there wasn't a more sure bet in MMA history given ALL the circumstances (age, TRT, wrestling, Hendo's quick turnaround, etc)

 

To Godfathers point, Cormier almost looked ripped at the weigh in.

He's still got a chubby body type which will never change. And he will always regain a shitload of weight after the weigh in, but he doesn't look soft or fat.

 

Come on. Outside of the heavyweight division, you can't find anyone with the body fat % that Cormier took into the fight last night.

Sure, he looked good for him, but not vs his peers.

A couple of other thoughts from UFC 173.

Jamie Varner broke his ankle midway thru the first round against James Krause. It buckled on him several times later in the first as he tried to throw desperation punches. That was like a 9.5 on the toughness scale.

Screw the winner of Rory and Woodley, Robbie Lawler deserves a rematch for the belt. The destruction of Ellenberger is more impressive than anything Woodley or MacDonald have done recently. Hell, Rory fought a complete snorefest against the same Ellenberger.
