    "There Will Be Blood"

I really liked "No Country", and I'm a huge Coen Brothers fan, but I found it a bit choppy, as I have most of their films that they've chosen to edit themselves.

Oh shit, yeah. I was more interested in comparing those two specifically but if its 'best film of 07?' Eastern promises should def be on the list

No Country For Old Men. There Will Be Blood was excellent but I've never had the desire to watch it again. It was one of those one and done flicks for me.

I can't decide. Both are great. If 'Blood' had a different actor, I'll say 'Country, but DDL gave such mesmerizing performance that it elevates the film considerable.

Okay, so the guys aren't the best editors in the world. Did that really effect the story?

Personally I'd say No Country is the better film. I liked Blood, but only after seeing it 2 or 3 times I didn't get it the first time and 3 of my guests I had over fell asleep on it. No Country I loved from the outset and I think the story offers a bit more than Blood by having action equally mixed in with the drama, although both had well done characters. Both endings left a bit to be desired almost like they had a secret handshake deal to piss off fans of both films but I still liked them both. No Country though is one of my favorite films and I can't understand some people who flat out don't like it.

If ever there was an overrated movie Eastern Promises is it. I can't even remember what this movie was about, only that it was boooorrrring.

Quality editing is a huge part of any decent movie. When compared to a movie like "There Will Be Blood", yes it makes a difference to me.

It's no insult, I still liked it quite a bit, I just liked TWBB better.

I'm the opposite. I can tune in TWBB and be mesmerized by it at any time. It's not just DDL either, he's pretty awesome but he gets too much of the credit IMO. I thought it was a flawlessly directed film. Great atmosphere, cinematography, mood.

I agree. First time I saw it I was like WTF? But after seeing it a couple more times on HBO...and you know how it is with HBO, you'll keep seeing it on, catching it in the middle of some scene, and I could always just start watching it and be into any scene. Just the atmosphere, the dialogue, facial expressions, everything. Just a really well done film. I still like No Country better though.

NCFOM is a masterpiece ... The story, the characters, the performances, the ambience

"Blood" is a good movie with a great performance

To me, they aren't anywhere near the same level of film

    I'd make one a 10/10 and the other a 7/10

Neither is one is "masterpiece" movie. But one is a good movie with a very good performance (Bardem) and the other is a very good movie with a great performance (DDL).

Blood is better by a clear margin.

I don't remember Eastern Promises that well, which leads me to believe it wasn't great. I should re-watch it.

For it's genre, it's a very good movie.

I consider it better than The Dark Knight, which receives 100x more hype.

The overwhelming reason why TDK is a quality movie is because of Ledger. Without him, it's not another Batman movie.

As an overall movie, V for Vendetta is better.
