Curry pounds Maidana into a swollen mess and then after the fight corners Maidana, bends over and commands him "now put it in there!"
Thing is, Curry ' s chin wasn't great. I think he'd be winning rounds, but I'm not so sure Madaina doesn't get to him eventually.
This is a guy in Maidana who couldn't stop a fraud like Broner after hitting AB with everything but the kitchen sink, yet he stops a prime Curry? Double likes to troll sometimes. Curry would beat the living shit outta Maidana. And he also woulda beaten the shit outta the 37 yr old Floyd that we saw fight Maidana.
My only beef about picking Curry is that he lost to mediocre Rene Jacquot. Still, he should won, and win brutally, as he was way better than Maidana, but if the Curry that fought Jacquot shows up, he gets murdered.
The thread CLEARLY states "prime" Curry. Prime Curry = The one that beat McCrory, Colin Jones, Starling in the rematch, and Larocca.
Really? The topic calls Curry in his prime, which took place during his Welterweight title reign. So picking a fight from when Curry WASN'T in his prime doesn't work here. As for the fight, Curry would easily handle Maidana en route to a 7th round TKO.
I have a lot of problem with calling a sub 30 fighter, who wasn't in a lot of wars, not in his prime. At best, you can argue that he was on an off night against Jacquot, but still, I think some people just ignores his bad losses too easily. Anyway, as I said previously, I do think he beat Maidana wiothout much problems.
Biological age correlates poorly with boxing age... As proven several hundred times through history benitez was finished by 26... Cuevas was washed up by 23... Archie Moore was better at 33 than he was at 23
agreed that the correlation is not perfect, but way too often, the word shot or past prime are used to defend fighter without much basis. Curry was good, but it seems that people excuses all of his bad performance (weakened by the weight loss against honeyghan, lucky punch against mccallum, past his prime against Mediocre Jacquot). As I said, I have a lot of trouble with the past his prime excuse, since he looked so good and explosive a couple of months earlier against Rossi. Anyway, as I said, I do think that he beats maidana pretty easilly, since he's getting overated because he nearly beat a very overrated welterweight in Mayweather
Sounds like you just like going against the grain here. You're the only person, ever, that I've seen trying to make a case for Curry being in his prime against Jacquot.
