Loud Ibella claimed on 24-7 that martinez is the greatest and most talented boxer he's promoted. not so subtle shot at hopkins
:: I agree to an extent. Sergio is a good fighter but fortunate that the division is poor. Him being ranked near the top of the p4p rankings in recent years pretty much reflects the talent pool in this era, he was #3 p4p...in the early 90s, he wouldn't even be top 3 at MW. I guess I'd go with Martinez in the late rounds. Not sure how much he has left, or even Cotto for that matter (particularly at MW).
Watson took Benn to school. Benn landed a couple of nice shots, but for the most part, caught glove and air and Watson was WAY more accurate with his straight punches. In a way, it was a more one-sided version of Ali-Foreman (and even then, Foreman wasn't even winning before he tired) with less work on the ropes. A slugger throwing wild haymakers that mostly missed and getting caught repeatedly down the middle.
I'm tempted to do the same. Apart from the Trout fight, Cotto has looked pretty good recently. A far cry from the supposed shotness he's allegedly exhibited since all the back after the first Plasterito fight. Martinez is old, has been injured etc, and the size difference looks much less than I expected in press conference photos. Something interesting about Cotto, is for a supposed non puncher at 147 and 154, all his wins since fighting Pacquiao have come via stoppage.
How many PPV's buys would equal a bomb in ur opinino>? I say it does from 300-400K...and that VERY GOOD..considering nobody knows or cares about Maravilla...
Canelo Angulo did 'over 350,000' I'll say fewer than that. Not only is it a shit main event, the undercard is laughably terrible for a ppv.
My official prediction is Sergio will knock cotto out in the 6th But he will drop and hurt cotto within the first two rounds Sergio is faster than cotto, not just handspeed, all around, faster feet etc. he is bigger than cotto He hits harder than cotto Even imagine cotto in there with Paul Williams or pavlik. Really Sergio "should" steam roll cotto but the variable IMO is Sergio being injured or not.. If his leg is still bothering him or his left hand That might make a difference For what I hear he is barely sparring at all

Cotto is looking fantastic in training. They got the right game plan in mind. They are going to try and break Martinez Will and Kill the body. The problem is if Martinez has 1 more performance left in him I cant see Cotto winning. If however Martinez is not 100% Cotto will have a real chance to make history.
Hopefully Cotto stays with the "kill the body" gameplan...he seems to quit halfway thru many of his gameplans even when they are working...Cotto needs to stay on top of Martinez....stay in his chest...or far away..and be careful coming in...don't get hit by those leaping counters...
