Martinez had to know his knee was fucked going into the fight. He didn't even spar much in camp

I thought Sergio would win. I figured that even now, he was too fast and athletic for the methodical Cotto.

But Sergio is shot to shit. His legs are gone, and his reflexes have dimmed. He's always relied on those attributes there, due to not being exceptionally skilled. With his knees basically being gone, his game is null. Had it been GGG in there, Martinez does NOT make it out of round 1.

Cotto better stay away from GGG too.

Considering Martinez's knee got mashed up, you could make a case that he lost because of the ring

Martinez should retire. He's too old to recover and mount any kind of comeback with his injuries. Cotto fought brilliantly but even lesser fighters would have defeated Sergio last night.

Cottos best win is the Marge rematch. Lot of demons for him to face up to that night and he did it.

Cotto pulled out a great performance. No matter how diminished Martinez was, the same could be said of Cotto before the fight, hence the 2-1 odds favouring Martinez. Despite that, Cotto gave Martinez a beatdown and he will be selling merengue lessons in managua before monday.

I feel like a cunt for not picking Cotto, I've always been a big Cotto fan, and I knew Sergio was there for the taking. I thought Cotto was just a bit too small.

    Miggles really whupped that ass.

Brilliant win and performance by Cotto, and you can imagine him beating any version of Martinez, but Martinez looked like had no business even being in the ring to be honest. I felt a bit sorry for him.

The highlights show a guy with no legs at all going down like a 3rd grade girl.

Did Cotto land some real shots to get him hurt in the first place?

I think Cotto's best win is Abdulaev, but the Mosley and 2nd Margarito fights are easier to argue for.

The only way this win fits into a conversation is if Martinez has some excellent performances in the future.

REED Normally LIKES the HBO Broadcasts...REED's a FAN of Lamps, Kellerman & Roy (Of Course), but the Freddie Roach Sack Slurping Got OLD...

It was like Cotto was a Rock 'em Sock 'em Robot Programmed by Roach, w/No Original Thoughts or Boxing Acumen to Speak Of...Dude DIDN'T Look Appreciably "Better" or "Different" to REED; he Looked like Miguel Cotto...

I have the minority position and it really doesn't come into play enough to matter, but I prefer the 3 kd rule. It's not fair that you can sit out close to a minute of a round without getting hit because you go down and keep getting counts.

The first hook was big. The first round reminded me of Tito Vargas.

24:10 hook was much harder than the first one.....that musta been the one that made Martinez knees shaky and fragile...

Going off memory from last night.

Cotto hit martinez with a very solid left hook and had him wobbled. The first knockdown was so/so. The hook actually cuffed the back of Martinez's head and pulled him down a bit. The second knockdown, Martinez got hit and tried to back up out of trouble and just didn't have the legs. You could see the frustration on his face after the second knockdown. Like he really needs his legs and they're just not there. Credit to Cotto for jumping on him and hurting him early.
