    'Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care. Shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates.'

    So read the tweet from Lucasfilms. This might be a blessing in disguise since J.J. Abrams supposedly had Ford's Han Solo as the central character, but if you watched him on Kimmel, you will have seen how much difficulty he had to have a conversation. Ford might 71, but looked geriatric & senile in that video. Now that he is hospitalized and will be on crutches, now Abrams can change the focus towards Mark Hamill/Luke Skywalker. Not only Hamill is more alert than Ford (he is younger), but it will make more sense to focus on Luke than on Han.

    Betty White is 92 and she is now more active career-wise than when she was younger. She also seems to be more focused and alert than Ford in that clip.

    Who the fuck wants to see a movie centered around some old fucks? I'd rather this be a comedy twist where Han and Luke hate each other for several millennia and keep pranking each other. They could call it Grumpy Old Men In Space. But who the fuck cares about seeing Han try to aim a ray gun against the old man shakes and Luke light sabre fighting the same time he's fighting against arthritis?

    Can somebody explain to me why Ford, Hamil, and Fisher are starring in a new Star Wars film at their advanced ages when it would have been so much better to replace them with younger actors?

    1. If a film centered around elderly people is good, audiences will watch it. Examples: Cocoon, On Golden Pond, the very same one you mentioned Grumpy Old Men and more recently The Expendables .
    2. For action sequences there is a film gimmick called 'stuntmen' and 'doubles' plus the help of CGI.
    3. Because SW geeks have been clamoring for an old cast reunion film since the 80's. For them just to have these three actors together again in a SW film is a nerdgasm of the fifth kind. J.J. Abrams, a true SW nerd, did not even considered the option to recast younger actors like he did with Star Trek. Plus Disney knows that more people will flock to the theaters having the old cast members names there.

    The film is not centered around them. They will be in it, but there are going to be younger people as the main stars.
