Arturro Gatti vs. Ricardo Mayorga at 147

The Mayorga of the first Forrest fight beats him in an epic war, Gatti was a small WW & took too many shots

 

mismatch. mayorga too big, too strong, too powerful and too good.

 

Complete mismatch, and I'd enjoy every second of it. Mayorga would batter the living shit outta Gatti and stop him within 5.

Mayorga wasn't exactly a defensive wizard & Gatti wasn't the type to lay down. It wouldn't last more than a few rounds, but it'd be a war for the duration of it.

 

To me, "epic war" is back and forth, like Corrales-Castillo. Mayorga-Gatti would be an epic ass whupping. Gatti copped a one sided beating from Bumlomir. We can only imagine what Mayorga would have done to him.

 

Mayorga gets him out of there in about 4 rounds tops... He's easy to hit so Gatti would be emboldened... This would prove his undoing because Mayorga is far stronger, has a much better chin and hits a lot harder...

 

Referencing that fight is absurd, Gatti was shot to shit by that point, that was after Floyd had raped him at 140 too. I was thinking more along the lines of the Gatti that moved up to 147 & caught a beating from Hoya (any version Mayorga would've caught the same beating from that version of DLH, btw) or maybe a couple of fights after that. Again, it's a war while it lasts. You guys seem to be forgetting that Mayorga had 0 defense & Gatti was an iron willed mf. Not saying he wins, I'm saying he makes it a fight while it lasts. Seems like some of you are confusing Mayorga with Mayweather, rest of you are confusing the 2007 Gatti with the early 2000s version

i think gatti still may hold the record on HBO for having fought the most consecutive gringos. after shitty millet, gatti fought FIVE consecutive white guys, then a shot james leija and then mayweather jr. FIVE!!!

 

You guys are right, Gatti would land nothing on Mayorga. Mayorga would duck and slip all the incoming and knock out Gatti with the first shot he threw. Mayorga was known for his cutesy defensive moves and ability to avoid getting hit.

 

I'm not saying Mayorga wouldn't destroy Gatti. I'm saying Gatti gets in shots by virtue of Mayorga having 0 defense & he takes a while for Mayorga to get rid of, by virtue of his will & recuperative powers. Does that really sound unreasonable to anyone?
