i got lomachenko but this is one of the more interesting fights in quite a while. russell jr is quick but small. lomachenko will be the bigger man here, unlike when he was giving up at least a dozen pounds to that cheat salido

Russell, by virtue of having more than 2 pro fights. Protected fucker than he is.

Not sure. Don't think much of little Gary, Lomachenko is better, but as we saw in the Salido fight - stepping up to world level after 1 pro fight is insane.

However, I'm not sure Little Gary is even world class, and he's fought no one, so fuck it - I'll pick Lomachenko.

I haven't even seen Russel yet. All i've heard is that he's fast.

You've heard the truth. He has very fast hands. In fact, he has the fastest hands in the sport currently.

And has fought NOTHING but stiffs after all these years as a pro.

Does he have anything on his punches, or is it shoe shining kind of speed?

A bit of both. He's got some pop when he sets down on his shots. Russell's competition has been pretty crappy so it's hard to say how his speed and power work against a good fighter.

I'm getting a Eddie Hopson vibe from Gary Russell Jr. Lots of speed but he's small and may be a bit fragile. He's been protected so much you have a feeling that his management knows he has a limited shelf life when he faces better competition. Hopefully that won't be the case because he seems like a good kid.

There's a SERIOUSNESS, a MEAN STREAK to Gary Russell that REED's Always Liked...

Andre Ward's Comp was SHITTY As Well, Until the Super 6...REED Thinks Russell Stays 1-2 Steps AHEAD of Lomachenko All Fight Looooooooooong En Route to a UD...Then Top Rank Will have THE Most Glorified 1-2 Fighter in HISTORY, in their Stable...

I don't think they're even close. He's fast, but not that fucking fast. He has quick combos, but his single shot handspeed isn't extraordinary.

Yeah, then Ward stepped up and beat up the man who was considered at the time as the best at 168 (Kess).

Russell is stepping up against a man with 2 pro fights.

Even though amateur boxing doesn't necessarily correlate with pro success, Lomachenko does have all the TOOLS to be a very good pro. Against Salido, he fought like an amateur, concentrating on clean punches and letting his opponent outwork him. If he rematched Salido right now, I'd pick him. Russell might be the goods, but I always become suspicious of talented guys who are unwilling to step up

He's an ATHLETIC, Small Guy, Brother Mex...MOST Little Guys have a MODICUM of Handspeed, by Virtue of Being SMALLER...

Russell's Handspeed is Ridiculous...Doesn't Mean he'll BEAT Lomachenko, but Dude IS Very Fast w/his Hands...

I was impressed by Gary early on but I'm beginning to wonder if his people are hiding something... He is very fast handed and has a better punch selection than a lot of young guys but he hasn't fought anyone... I'm interested to see how russell deals with lomachenko who appears considerably stronger

You have to @ Least WONDER for Sure...

Al Haymon's NOT a Dictator; If Guys Want to CHALLENGE Themselves, he Allows them To...Errol Spence Fought a 15-0 Guy in his 9th Pro Fight...Next Week, Spence will Fight a 20-3, 15 KO's Guy, who's NEVER Been Stopped...It'll Be Spence's 13th Bout...Haymon ALLOWS Guys to Carve their Own Paths, Pretty Much...

Which Again, Makes You HAVE to Wonder about Russell, for Sure...

REED's Expecting a Chavez-Taylor I ESQUE Affair, w/Russell's SPEED Building an Early Lead & Lomachenko Coming on STRONG Late...REED Thinks Russell will Have an Insurmountable Lead & Get the UD Though...

Good points. I'm not sold on him at all. He has some talent - fast, accurate punches, half decent pop. But I've never been wow'd by him, and I think he or his management must be hiding something for him to be this fucking protected. Either he has a glass chin, or he's just not that good.

Wouldn't exactly be shocked if he beat a guy who is 1-1, but I still expect Chenko to win.

What's really quite hilarious, is despite having only 2 pro fights, Chenko has fought consistently better opposition

Another reason to believe Chenko is going to fuck him up.

"I was never a fighter that said he wanted to be a world champion." Gary Russell Jr said that during the press conference yesterday. I hope he wins but the odds seem to be against him. Hopefully tomorrow is his coming out party.

Why do you hope he wins? He's an overprotected hype job, fighting a real fighter with balls the size of watermelons, prepared to fight anyone.

Like I said earlier he comes across as a likeable guy and he's been fun to watch. No harm in rooting for him.
