Crawford-Gamboa: Final predictions

Looking forward to this one. I've got Crawford by 8-4 UD. I'm hoping he stops Gamboa though.

I fully concur. I might be generous in saying Gamboa wins 4 rounds. It's possible this might be a one sided ass whupping. But Crawford is a bit measured to start fights, and Gamboa is the fastest guy he's ever faced. But I fully expect him to turn it up, and outclass the Lil Cuban.

 

crawford never been tested either, it will be interesting to see how he reacts when gamboa lands hard shots

Crawford via UD. Too skillful and accurate for Gamboa. Not that Gamboa doesn't have some skills of his own, but for me he's never shown the ability to control and HARNESS it. His wild style will get completely neutralized here and it could look bit like Lomachenko vs Russell except I can see Crawford scoring a knockdown or two.

This will be kinda similar to Lomachenko-Russell Jr. Not saying Crawford is as technically good as 'chenko, but he is bigger and arguably stronger than Gamboa and technically sound, coming up against a guy who has fast hands and can move well but you get the impression there's more hype than hope surrounding Gamboa.

I see Crawford being sharper all round, landing the more telling blows and may well get to Gamboa late on.

 

Distinct lack of timmiocity in this match up.

I don't think Gamboa's got the chin to handle shots like Shane did. There's no reason Shane should have remained upright after that first uppercut.

The only x-factor is is Crawford turns out to not have a chin.

When I see guys built like Crawford I never know if he's going to be Vernon Forrest or Derrick Gainer.

Hard to tell. Gamboa is clearly the more talented, dynamic fighter, but he"s been so inactive and inconstant, that you wonder if he's still on the top of his game, While Crawfod is unspectacular but efficient. If Gamboa is still in his prime, I think he takes this, but right now, I think the clowning around has pretty much killed his career, and expect Crawford to ein a UD

 

I agree with this. I was pretty high on Gamboa at one point, his offense looked superb at times.

But he and his career turned out to be a big fucking disappointment. So yeah although Gamboa at his best beats a solid but unremarkable guy like Crawford, the safe pick right now is Crawford.

Crawford will probably win but I'm not at all impressed by him and I'm not really sure where this 'schooling' of Burns has come from; he won clear enough but he was pretty unimpressive doing so.

Agreed. He's one of those guys that's become quietly overrated. He's not that good at all, just solid and decent enough.

If Gamboa is still prime and not too rusty he should be able to beat Crawford.

 

Burns barely won a round against Crawford, and I'm not a fan of either guy

 

Crawford isn't flashy so people underrate him. But he wins easily and he will easily beat Gamboa.

 

Burns was competitive against Crawford, more than I expected, he won a few rounds. I expected Crawford to look much better than he did against a very average fighter in Burns.

I expect a close decision win over Gamboa at best, I'll be surprised if he stops or dominates him.

 

Burns can't fight for shit against southpaws, when Crawford made that adjustment they might as well have tied Burns' feet together, it was embarrassing. I'm not sure how much that fight tells us.

 

Gamboa will knock him out in the late rounds!

This is his oppurtunity to display his super talent and he'll succeed.

He's too young to be diminished despite the low level of activity.

 

Yeah I'm kind of surprised he's still only 32. He seemed like a late starter, and he's been around for years, squandering his career.

 

Give me Crawford via UD. I think the layoff for Gamboa is going to play a major factor. Gamboa is the more gifted athlete by far but Crawford is fundamentally solid. The size difference wont help Gamboa either.
