Whitaker already schooled him, but yeah, he probably would've schooled him even more comprehensively at the lower weights
re: Donaire vs Marquez, has Marquez ever been thoroughly befuddled & looked lost against another fighter the way Donaire did against Rigondeaux? The only time Marquez has looked like that was when he came in flabby against a significantly bigger Floyd Mayweather Jr in his prime (and Floyd is obviously the gratest of are tims)
Marquez has never fought anyone who can box like Rigo ever not even close he would have been made to look a useless fool by Whitaker, for example
Chavez would have pounded the dogshit out of Marquez... that's as easy a matchup to envision as there is... JMM would get pushed back and beat down
bullshit. We listed some fucking awesome fighters who we said could beat him. It's not like we are saying bums would beat him.
Exactly. We're saying the best fighters of this generation would beat him. Hardly makes him Jesus Chavez.
I think that Chavez would have beaten Marquez in a close fight, lost to mayweather in a close fight, but he would catch a terrible beating against Pac.
Fuck is wrong with you fuckers.....Mayweather, Pacquiao Marquez???? The only one who would have a chance vs. Chavez...is Maywether... Marquez gets brutalize....Pacquiao gets brutalize...Mayweahter is smart enough and has the skills to beat Chavez...but it won't be easy....
Are you nuts? Pacquiao gets brutalized? :: Chavez has the exact style Pacquiao feasts on. He'd have a field day on Chavez, it would be 1 sided.
I like Chavez style much more than Pacquiao, but it's clear that Pacman is a greater fighter, and he has the style to obliterates chavez.
Cambodian please. He has the exact style Pacquiao shines against. He'd strafe the shit out of Chavez, and land at will. Chavez wouldn't be able to do anything with Pacquiao, who has the perfect style to thrash him.
It really would. He'd plod around getting fucking battered by Pacquiao's fast, accurate, unpredictable punches. He'd take an absolute beating.
At 135, pac would punch chavez 3 times and be out of the way before Chavez knew what hit him. Chavez didn't do well with movers.
What? Chavez was excellent at cutting off the ring. Pacquiao certainly can (and does) have excellent foot speed but he wouldn't utilize a stick and move approach anyway. That's just not him. Julio would find Manny and vice versa. I can make arguments for either man winning but this would not be a one sided fight in either direction. In fact it would be a classic.
Neil is correct. The Chavez of the Rosario fight fucks Manny up at 135. 140 is a tougher call. OBVIOUSLY Manny wins at 147.
I think you guys are forgetting that Manny literally eats pressure fighters alive. It's the style he does best against. Chavez isn't beating Manny at any weight. Chavez might be a good example of a pressure fighter, but he's still a typical pressure fighter. Pacquiao would brutalize him.
Manny fights better now going backwards as he's matured, and adapted to fighting bigger guys. Although he's always been faster than his opponents it's magnified against bigger opponents. Lets take a look at his younger and lighter days. When he fought Morales he was forced to go in reverse. Manny fought admirably, but still lost clearly. El Terrible fought the fight Manny wanted and still won. It's not just that Chavez is better than Morales, it's that you're putting him into a category of "Mexican pressure fighter" like he was a smaller version of Margarito.
You cant compare a green manny to one in his prime. Look what manny did to Morales the two fights after. Look at what he did to Barrera.
