Morales fights nothing like Chavez, while Barrera had a similar style. Sure Chavez was better than Barrera, but I dont think it would make much of a difference, he would also gets a whooping imo

because he never beat anyone anywhere near as good as chavez at 135lbs or below before he got all enhanced.

pacquiao won all these fights being mentioned because he was able to hurt his opponents. that would not be the case against chavez at 135lbs. i cant say vice versa is true. pacquiao is faster, other than that i dont see what advantages he has.

Erik didn't fight the fight Manny wanted at all. He simply outboxed Pacquiao. Sure it was aggressive boxing at times, being it's El Terrible, but it was still good old fashioned boxing behind a jab. He was remarkably disciplined too for Morales. Chavez fights nothing like Morales, he is more similar to Plasterito, just better.

For those that think Chavez beats Pacquiao, I'd love to know based on what. He never beat anyone anywhere near as good as Pacquiao.

    He has better foot movement

You could make a case that a prime Taylor beats Manny at 140. Your could also make a case for Rosario being a VERY dangerous fight for Manny at 135.

Not really. Footwork isn't all about movement. Cutting the ring is a form of great footwork. Chavez had very quick feet, which is something you're not giving him credit for. Yall are acting like he was a sloth, like his bum son is.

Taylor aint Chavez. Chavez is a plodder that has to set his feet to punch. The only thing Chavez beats pac at is a drinking contest.

Chavez a plodder? You must be referring to the late 90s Chavez or something.

Chavez was simply better than Manny at 135.

At 140, it's tough to say. Pac's only performance at 140 was against Hatton. Awesome performance, but the Manchester hump machine couldn't shine Chavez's boots.

Chavez had a better jab than morales

Chavez had a better EVERYTHING than Morales. He was a considerably better fighter than Morales.

Im just glad this is a Pac vs Chavez debate. Because a few years ago there were actually Pac vs Duran debates. At least there's weight classes Manny could beat Chavez at. He gets thrashed and knocked out by Duran at ANY weight.

    Is this real life?

Plodder = Ben Tackie, Rocky Juarez, David Tua.

Methodical offensive technician = Chavez, Arguello.

In my opinion, Chavez is the 3rd best lightweight ever. Meaning, the only two guys I'd pick over him at 135 are Duran, and Whitaker.

I would pick DLH over Chavez at 135 too.

Your entitled to that opinion, but to me....... fuck no!!!!!!!

Chavez would hammer De La Crying Game at 135.

The lightweight Mosley is a tougher matchup for Chavez than Oscar.

Actually, the lightweight Mosley is a very tough fight for Chavez.

with an injured shoulder, a broken hand, and outweighed by 20 lb (& he still won, twice). chavez is closer to his size & a healthy floyd schools him

Chavez is roughly 100 times more talented and skilled than Castillo, who was his later-career sparring partner

LMAO at Chavez as a "plodder"... You could count on one hand the amount of fighters in history who were as good at applying pressure... He's one of the best there's ever been at forcing the issue and cornering his opponent

Almost unbelievable degree of revisionism here... disgusting, really

This is the same forum where GGG is a God. Yet JCC is a "plodder".

Chavez was very good at cutting the ring off, but he didn't exactly have lightning fast feet. He might not be a plodder like Tito, but even Hatton has faster feet. Pacquiao would make him look slow, just like Taylor and Whitaker did.

For all this "Chavez is so amazing" business, why is his best win Rosario?

Sorry I just don't get why he's held in such high regard, I don't even hate him or anything. When I see him fight I see a very good pressure fighter, with some good wins, but no amazing wins, and not a guy who is anywhere near as good as the Durans or even Pacquiaos and Floyds of boxing history.

i could see chavez outlasting a younger, featherweight/super featherweight version of pac, but pac's workrate would've been too much at 140, and especially at 147 where he was still beating up bigger, stronger dudes than chavez.
