Do you guys think we will ever see a salary cap ruling brought into football? This could certainly be introduced for the highest earning clubs. Obviously putting a salary cap on Dagenham & Redbridge would make no sense at all seeing as they can only afford so much on players. If not, could we end up seeing clubs paying £200m for players? £1m a week wages?

As Gary Newbon said...."Give football a tenner and it will spend it".

Now, if a tosser like Newbon can come up with something like that then, well, figure it out.

There will never be a salary cap because the money being thrown at the situation is too much.

Just for openers, what are you going to do with the money you are now no longer giving to the players??

Not any time soon. It would have to start with something like the UEFA financial fair play system. It already seems to be a joke with one oil baron paying another 50 million for David Luiz.

And PSG apparently is one of the clubs to be under the most scrutiny. Clearly they don't give a shit.

Spend it on grass roots, the academy, etc for starters.

Yes. Arsenal are still a defensive mid and an upgrade of Giroud away from realistically challenging though.

Shaqiri, Vidal and Huntelaar could all be purchased even with Wenger's wallet.

The talk is Balotelli to Arsenal. :pathetic:

I'd love to see Shaqiri play in the premier league. Lovely left foot.

Well apparently Wenger has 100mil to "spend".

Vidal would be a pipe dream, not sure Shaqiri is a need and pass on a 30 year old Huntelaar.

I'd rather sign Loic Remy and go all in for Paul Pogba. Ozil,Ramsey and Pogba would be incredible. Switch to 4-4-2 and the rotation upfront would be great with Podolski,Giroud,Remy and Walcott.

At mid, the rotation would be Cazorla,Ramsey,Ozil,Wilshere,Pogba,Rosicky.

Arsenal doesn't have unlimited funds but can spend big. It's hilarious how MUFC fans hate City for spending but MUFC has dropped 130 million pounds in the past calendar year themselves.

Wenger has 100 million every summer. You guys can expect Thomas Brolin on loan.

Pogba is going to cost huge money, 50+ . A ridiculous price, no sensible club will sign him.

Last year was the first summer Wenger has had money to spend free and clear since Highbury. Pogba could be had for under that. I believe 35 MAX for him. Juventus and Serie A is a financially troubled league and they got him for free.

    I'd pay the 50 though.

Pogba is worth 50 million if David Luiz is lol. I wouldn't want to pay it but these players are overpriced so you kind of have to. I wonder if he would count as home grown?

As for home grown, that's a good question, I'm not sure.

Man U seem to be assembling the most overpriced and overrated back four in history.

Lallana is a great player but isn't what LFC need and is overpriced by about £10m IMO.

As Irish said LFC need a proper DM. If I was Rodgers I'd get Barry in for a year or so.

    Need some defenders too actually.

Rather sign Remy? That guy is not an upgrade. Arsenal need a quality finisher.

Surely Remy would be a solid backup signing if Arsenal sign a more high profile striker. At £8-10m, that's not an overwhelming price. He scored often for Newcastle and the service was not as good as to what he'd receive at Arsenal.

There is already some restriction on spending. Not a salary cap but a rule saying a team can only spend a certain percentage of their profit on players' payroll. I believe Man City were over the limit last season. I'm not sure what their punishment is.

Only if the bubble bursts. That's the only way a cap would be introduced - it would need to be worldwide to be effective and there would have to be a hell of a justification for it (like a league goes bust or something massive like that).
