Crawford-Gamboa: Final predictions

Possibly a bit silly given how inactive and disappointing he's been, but I'm changing my pick to Gamboa. If he's anywhere near his best, I think he's simply a better fighter than Crawford.

 

Crawford does look bone dry. I still pick him, but this is cause for concern.

Yup, I still believe this. I am curious to see how Crawford does with Gamboa's speed though. Prescott, and Burns are sloths.

Not sure of the odds, but I'm almost positive Gamboa is the underdog. Whether he's a slight, or clear underdog I dunno, but Crawford is the favorite.

 

What's the basis for everyone's claim that Gamboa is more talented? Because it certainly isn't his defense or durability or stamina. Is it his speed? Speed != talent in general. It's just one component. Hate the way judges and fans fall for speed.

 

Speed, accuracy, combos, power. Not just speed.

One thing that concerns me about Gamboa is his size, more than inactivity. He's one small dude, and should really be fighting at featherweight.

 

All the questions about how talented Crawford is will be answered tomorrow night.

 

In terms of technical skill, Crawford is much more impressive to me than Gamboa but Gamboa is very very fast so that is absolutely dangerous

 

Gamboa is clearly faster than Little Gary by the way Explosive ;)

 

This a great matchup. Really can't wait to watch it. Should be explosive.

 

Little Gary fooled me. He looked very fast against corpses. Against a real fighter, his hand speed simply looked "good".

Yes, I would agree Gambia is faster.

 

Yes that's very true, now you see what I saw. Fighters can fool you against scrubs or pads etc. It's only when they fight good opposition - especially guys who are also fast - that you realise how fast they really are.

 

Gary throws those half-cocked shots Mosley used to throw. So he appears faster than he actually is.

 

That's an insult to Mosley. Young Shane had wicked handspeed.

 

Young Mosley's handspeed was unbelievable, especially for a welterweight. He threw that right hand with blinding speed AND power.

Either way. Mosley, like Russell, had a tendency to throw "halfway" shots, probably in an effort to be speedier...
