I question how much the T.I. fight took outta Floyd.

You could argue Castillo won the first fight with Floyd. At the very least it was close enough that it warranted a rematch. I don't have a poll among fans and journalists comparing them but I'm fairly certain more people thought Castillo beat Floyd than did Maidana.

Maidana brings a toughness and unpredictability which is entertaining but I don't see what he can do better next time out other than land the mythical one big shot.

I agree. Unless Chino can land the Money Shot and really hurt FM I dont see how he can win. I think FM wins more decisively in this rematch.

    Not sure.

Floyd's focus and drive hasn't been great recently. Every interview I see these days he has this melancholic malaise towards boxing.

Before the Maidana fight he was with Fighthype and at one point he spaced out and said something like "Man I wish I could stop boxing".

    Plus he's old.

I hope not, but this could be another Jones-Tarver. Floyd's focus is not really there and at 37, he's not the fighter he was before.

I still say Floyd via UD but it'll probably be similar to the first fight.

Mayweather won the first one very clearly despite all of the jerking off by haters

If he had Uncle Rog training him instead of that moron Father of his, he'd be more offensive minded and would give Maidana a more thorough whupping

Of course, that isn't going to happen, so it'll probably be a replay of the first one

One adjustment Madaina could make would be to wear the gloves he's used to wearing and that he wants to wear.

Another difference could be that PBF doesn't stay on the ropes. This could be a positive for Mayweather but it could also prove advantageous for Madaina.

Floyd knows what to expect now, he'll win a clearer decision.

Floyd didn't know what to expect the first time? Sure he did. That's why he barred Madaina from wearing his gloves.

After recently fight Cotto and Canelo.....getting up or caring for someone like Maidana is a bit tough for someone as skilled as Floyd...not that he didn't prepared 100% physically for it...but he couldn't be bother....

Floyd wins an easy decision...maybe even a few knockdowns just to leave no doubt...

Seems like the prevailing theory is PBF let it be close. If so, maybe in an effort to invite the rematch? If that's the case, why?

The first 6-7 rounds were close....I don't think "let" anything happen...it seems that everytime he is push or hit a bit he "LET" it happen...that bullshit...

I agree. But many seem to believe that - explaining away anything other than total domination on PBF's part as due to his having his father (and not his uncle), or his uncle (and not his father) in his corner, or some other bull - shit explanation that would seem to allow zero credit ever for his opponents and zero allowance for the possibility PBF, like every other fighter, is vulnerable.

how do you feel about this, Loveland? do you still feel as though maidana has a right to bitch and complain if this is indeed true? seems to me he sold his soul for the cash and has no grounds for complaint.

I'm not referring to the injustice of it all. Regarding Maidana ' s gloves, I made two points:

    1. PBF'S request that Maidana change gloves signaled that in fact he did know what to expect from Madaina (despite what some posters claim)

    2. Presumably, Maidana will not make the same mistake twice of agreeing to use gloves he doesn't prefer, adding at least one factor in his favor to counter the many which posters here seem to think favor pbf in the rematch.

When it comes to fairness and justice I know better than to try to find it in the sport of boxing. It's beside the point.

if maidana is offered another 1.5 million i bet he will take it rather than wear mx gloves

  27. Double L

And by making such an offer, pbf will have shown a sense of insecurity and poor sportsmanship that few of his fans will ever acknowledge.

think so? to me it shows maidanas lack of confidence. if he thinks the gloves made the difference then why the fuck not turn down 1.5 mill and beat mayweather jr's ass. a victory is surely worth more than 1.5 mill

  29. Double L

    Double L Book Reader

It could just as easily be interpreted (more reasonably) as a sign of Madaina 's overwhelming confidence he would win, regardless of the gloves he wears.

that went out the window when he and his camp began complaining throughout the lead up to the fight as well as afterward. who the fuck is maidana? virgil to mayweather jr's dibiase ?
