Ah keep hearin this beeling aboot the English spending money, which is right enough, but whit aboot Lawwwell no' putting his hand in his pocket, eh? He let Samaras go wi' oot any ceremony and is set tae sell off some more o' the CROOWN jewells in Forster and VVD. The Celtic balance has never been in ruder health but there's been little talk o' buying... Ah mean, who will be the next Leigh Griffiths?

Yes there is. Refuse on principle to participate in the only way that counts - with money. I've been supporting Gateshead FC for four years now and merely 'following' NUFC - I won't buy any merchandise or attend any NUFC game. If I hate the way things are going so much I am obliged to make a stand; shrugging your shoulders and forking out more dosh is a mugs game.

Newcastle United have signed a bloke I've heard of! From a real football club! On a proper transfer! For a fee!

This can only mean that Debuchy is DEFINITELY on his way out the door as is being reported today. Fat Mike would never sanction a transfer from his own pocket. Mark my words.

If somebody seriously wanted to purchase NUFC what do you think the owner would ask for?

In other news, i just came across this.

Apparently a Man United fan lost a bet against a Liverpool fan last season and this is how he paid up. :giggle:

The club has been nominally up for sale for the last four years at £230m. That's the sum Ashley would need to sell on at a profit. There is no way on earth he'll sell up at a loss, not when he's making money every year as is and that the advertising he doesn't pay for has turned his minty tat emporium into practically the only sports retailer in the UK.

Well if i ever become a billionaire i'll buy him out and hand over the club to you. :bears:

I'd make only one rule. No selling a player to an oil club regardless of how high the offer is or even what the player wants.

As a pedantic point of order - we signed Fraser Forster from you lot for a song (sorry!) after a year loan and by the time the money was handed over I'd heard of him. Apart from that I think I was actually right  Fuxxake.

    Sounds like you disapprove.

The team who takes the player pays the wages basically but the loaned player remains the property of the club he belongs to. Although i've definitely heard of deals where the 'parent' club pays a large part of the wages

Yeah, i've heard the second part as well. Total BS. It's just a way of holding onto a larger roster. How many players can a club have loaned out?

of course, but it would take mass exodus to even make a dent... just the money from TV is gargantuan for these clubs... if you own one, just avoid relegation and you get paid a bundle guaranteed

There'd have to be 15,000-20,000 die hards making it a point to never attend a match or spend a dime on the club to make an impact... Even then, the owner probably can break even for a while on the TV money, sponsors and the dolts that still attend the game

In America, the owner who has run his team into the ground blames the fans for not supporting them and he relocates a thousand miles away or sells to somebody who wants to

just as an aside, I've noticed in football (Europe anyway) moves are extremely uncommon

the only benefits to the loan system are that a player gets more playing time than he otherwise would, the team loaning him out gets to have him get playing time and improve (or show he's actually shite) and the team taking on the loan gets potentially a more innately talented player to use for a while than they may otherwise be able to acquire

Absolutely, but if a team is allowed to pay the wages of a team they are loaning them to :tick: it means they don't want anybody else to have him. With a loan they get to keep the player and choose where they go. (somebody who can't compete)

Hey cdogg, can you loan me your car? Also pay me 300 a week for borrowing it.

You've just outlined the Ashley blueprint. I'm beyond the point of hoping that 'fan power' will somehow force Ashley out or change football. It won't happen - there are too many mugs who will suffer whatever cost and indignity is foist upon them under the misplaced guise of 'loyalty'. That doesn't mean I have to be one of them.

The fat cockney bastard can make his millions if he can but it won't be at my expense.

That said, one NUFC fanzine has calculated that attendances this year will fall below 40,000 for the first time in Christ knows how long. This was worked out from the availability of season tickets sent by promotional email earlier this week. There may be hope yet I guess.

I hope that fanzine is right... It's ridiculous that a club with the kind of rabid, age-old, die-hard support Newcastle has should be penny pinching

The 2014-15 UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE kicked off yesterday.

Congratulations to Dundalk or Ireland who defeated Jeunesse Esch of Luxembourg 2-0.

I'd like to see as many clubs from Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales, England, and Scotland get into the group stage. (For my own convenience and to make it interesting.)
