I had it 115-113 Lara. It was close so I don't have much of a problem with it. what didn't impress me about Alvarez, or what impressed me about Lara, was how lara did after the 8th round. He was cut, taking a lot of body shots, and all the momentum was in Canelo's favor i gave lara rounds 9 thru 11. He was moving and picking his shots well and landing the cleaner blows.
Honestly, I dont care if I dont see both both of these guy ever again. Lara has decent ability, but has a loser mentality. He runs and keep it close, ans cry when he dont get the decision. Canelo for his part, is a pressure fighter without much steam, who seems to always do the minimum, cause he knows he has the judges in his pocket.
Canelo today is the most protects fighter by the judges. Was oven fights against Trout and Lara that he didn't deserve.
Lara does have himself to blame though. Low work rate fucked that he is. When Lara stepped forward and let his hands go, Canelo was pretty helpless.
Let's not try to pretend that Canelo doesn't have money on his side. We won't even discuss the opening scoring in the Trout fight.
No he didnt. I wanted Lara to win the fight, and I have no problem with giving the decision to him. But it was a real close fight that could have went either way. Mostly cause, as explosive sais, he only fought in spurt. If he had let his hands go more, I think he would have won clearly. But he didn't
To DISCREDIT Lara though, he just doesn't have an extra gear. He just is what he is. Which is a very skilled counter puncher, who's weakness is he has lulls, and doesn't let his hands go enough. If he had an extra gear in him that prompted him to open up more, then this would have been an outclassing. Canelo is a pretty dumb fighter.
Canelo was smart enough to go to Lara's body when he realized that he couldn't get to his head. Most fighters against runners don't go to the body at all.
Arguably won rounds 4, 9, and 12. Canelo is is just a protected GB fighter who should have 3 losses on his record.
Exactly. It seems that pretty much any fighter can give him problems by rushing him recklessly, since he'll only retreat or keep a high guard in these case.
Double would pick Canelo also. He believes Tito had brass knuckles in his gloves, and without them, he hit like Juan Diaz.
Which is why I said he'd die against GGG. Canelo just isn't that impressive a fighter though. I wouldn't be at all surprised if a guy like Demetrius Andrade outclassed him.
I stopped reading when you said the 4th round. Do you score rounds for guys getting their ribcage severely damaged?
Hopefully , Canelo vs Cotto gets made. It should be a great fight, since I doubt any of them runs like Lara did tonight. Unless Canelo do the same kind of performance than he did against floyd, and refuse to throw any punches
I have go against my boy PR here, and agree with the rest. I did have Lara winning, but it's possible to have Canelo winning a close one. Canelo winning 9-3 is what I found absurd. Lara-Williams, now THAT was a fucking robbery. Lara won 9 or 10 rounds CLEARLY over Paul, yet somehow lost.
I think Andrade definitely beats him. As i said earlier, Canelo is a pressure fighter without much steam. He has a nice variety of pnches, and I like his transition from body punches to uppercut, but all in all, he's a pretty poor fighter.
