I think you've mistaken Peter Quillin as some skilled operator. Whatever version of Quillin you're referring to doesn't exist.

The Peter Quillin I've seen lately was getting tagged at will, and hurt multiple times by Gabe Rosado, and just went the distance with some midget scrub in his last fight.

Quillin has a VERY low ring IQ, and his power is overrated.

 

Cotto vs Quillin makes no financial sense.

 

Surely Cotto would make much more by facing Canelo/Lara than Bradley. I'm not so sure Cotto would make all that much if he fought GGG. Perhaps he could face Floyd next year, but I wouldn't count on it.

 

Agreed. Cotto would probably make more facing Martin Murray in England.

 

Good Point. I guess the advantage is Cotto being able to unify. I believe he can beat Quillin.

I was about to ask the same question. I went on his twitter and dont see how he would know about this fight being made. Unless he got inside information.

I might have been a bit quick on the trigger considering the source... It was a retweet from the dude that posts fights on google groups (simbros).
