Same here, I'm only interested in punches landed. Right now I'm rewatching the fight, in all honesty Maidana has landed more punches in most of the first 6 rounds. Floyd's punches are nicer, cleaner, and more eye catching, but Maidana is consistently landing hard, thudding shots to the body, side of the face, side of the head, plenty of scoring areas that aren't elbows and gloves.

I don't know about that...even at lightweight when Mosley had a crazy KO percentage, he usually was beating guys down and not really a one-punch guy.

At welterweight, all his stoppages, except for Adrian Stone, have come from accumulative punishment.

agreed... Mosley was never a big puncher... he had good power but not great power

That was the worst song she ever did until she did that Abba rip off about eight years ago.

Yeah, and the reason Mosley had a higher KO % earlier in his career is that's when he was at the peak of his handspeed. The velocity of his punches increased their effect.

Terry Norris after 25 fights only had 13 KOs (52% ratio). Then he became one of the hardest punchers in the sport. After the Mugabi fight he became a monster puncher. Was it maturity? Training techniques? Handwraps? Roids?

Norris wasn't a MONSTER puncher. When I think of a MONSTER puncher, I think of Jackson, Benn, and McCllelan.

Norris had a lot more power than Shane however, especially at 154.

Mosley had good power at 147. He consistently hurt people with single punches, the sheer velocity of his right hand was amazing.

I actually think he was a better puncher at 147 than 135, being less drained made him faster and stronger.

Okay. After 25 fights, Norris's opponents were hurt earlier and more often by his punches than in his first 25 fights. It was definitely a power surge.

No doubt. I think it's underselling Shane to call him an accumulation puncher. Even if he wasn't a true 1 punch KO artist, he did a fuck load of damage with that right, he'd often hurt opponents beyond repair with 1 right hand. Don't forget even at 154 he knocked Mayorga TFO with 1 punch.

Who's the biggest hitter (sexy, manly belter, if you will) that Margarito had faced prior to Mosley, though, to be fair?

Obviously he had an outstanding chin but unless you are one of these assholes who thinks Kermit Cintron was a killer, there's not really a huge puncher on that resume... He didn't face anyone that had Cuevas/Hearns/Robinson type of power for sure...

Mosley had good pop, but I don't think he hit anywhere near as hard as someone like, say, Donald Curry

Bang on. I hate to defend that utter fucking scumbag too, but if there's one thing you can say about him, it's that his ability to take a punch and absorb punishment was truly top tier.

No the fighters he faced weren't Julian Jackson, but he fought guys with solid power, the kind of guys whose punches you don't just walk through like they're nothing - but he did with pretty much all of them.

Margarito's chin is ridiculous. He used to look angry when his opponents missed his face.

I stand by my margarito point... He had a tremendous chin but I'm not putting it in the RARE territory ... The comp and the fact he was actually knocked out by a guy who was not a huge puncher have to count against him in that regard
