Phillip Lahm retired from the national team.

He'll be missed greatly. I was really hoping he would lead Germany into the next Euros. I guess you can't fault his timing though. He's now 30 years old and there is no way he can top this achievement at international level. It will also give the German team plenty of time to look for and test out various players. Even if he was able to be injury free I think it's probably a stretch he could remain as effective as he is in Russia for the next World Cup.

I presume Schweinsteiger or Neuer will become the next captain.

    Who cares.

Liverpool should go after Falcao, Pogba or Vidal.

    Leave Reus alone. :nono:

Newcastle buying more players. Debuchy gone to Arse. Ben Arfa on his way and others to foot the bill. It's going well though - Gateshead FC beat NUFC 2-0 at the International Stadium tonight and a great time was had by all.

Not sure if anybody caught the draw today for the European comptetions. Celtic are drawn in the third round of the CL against the winner of Legia Warsaw (Poland) and St. Patrick's Athletic (Dubln, Ireland.) They drew their first leg 1-1 in Poland.

    Celtic playing in Dublin.

It looks like Hull will be drawn against a Slovakian club in the Europa third round. They have to go to an outdated, smokey, 19th century industrial wasteland full of decaying buildings and filthy streets. The Hull supporters will feel right at home.

Celtic still havetae complete the job against KR Reykjavik and they star man 'Allllaaan!' on Tuesday neet.

Plus, Dublin must beat Legia Warsaw wi ' former Rangers defender, Henning Berg, in charge of the Polish ootfit tae set up fer the third qualifying roond of the Champions League. Hopefully, we'll see a Polish and Icelandic encoonter, like.

His legs are gone & everyone knows it. Everyone but Rio. He reads the game well enough but still plays the game like a 24 year old. Not a good move for QPR, IMO.

It's a one year contract so of it doesn't work out it's all good. I think he still has something to offer as a player.

IMO, it's awful business again from QPR. He's getting paid silly money, money better spent elsewhere.

The Israeli midfielder, Nir Biton, who plays fer Celtic, posted a message on his personal Instagram accoont sending a prayer tae the Israeli Defence Force.

The prayer called ‘Prayer for the Welfare of the Soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces’ states:

“He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob – may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our God from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.

“May Hashem cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our FIGHTING men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.

“May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your God, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to SAVE you.”
