Difficult one. Both can hurt the other, Cooney clearly more so, but we didn't see how Cooney would have done against a guy with Haye's movement. His performance against Spinks didn't look good, although he wasn't at his best there
Spinks was a great fighter. Gaye was a fraud. Spinks had a great jab, and was a very good combination puncher, and utilized it against Cooney. Haye has no tools like that. He has nothing more than a good fight hand, and affleticism.
Yeah, Haye is a 1 dimensional afleet. Cooney would probably knock him out. Never been sold on David Hayes as a heavyweight, the only reason he even lasted the distance against wald pussy is the extreme negativity he displayed in conjunction with the extreme pussyness of wald pussy.
This. The Spinks-Cooney fight doesn't shed any light on this, or any other, match-up. The Cooney of the Holmes fight would have crushed Spinks...as would have the Holmes of that fight. Spinks' jump to heavy for the Holmes fight was carefully planned as was Spinks taking on Cooney when he did. Cooney would KO Haye in the early rounds.
Cooney was a pretty good fghter for a while (though it's hard to know for sure, since he had so few fights, and he had a padded record). He should win this. Though, if they fight 10 times, Haye would time one of his wide left hook, and ko him with a counter right hand (which is pretty much the only weapon in Haye arsenal) in 2 or 3 of these fights.
It took a prime Holmes 12 rounds of beating the shit outta Cooney before he finally put him away. Haye has a GOOD right hand, nothing more. I wouldn't say that at heavyweight he hit harder than Holmes. He GODDAMN SURE wasn't as accurate as Holmes. Haye is a fucking fraud, and unless we're talking about a washed up, boozed up Cooney, he destroys Haye everytime.
I think Haye hits about a million time harder than Holmes, even if Holmes was a million time better than him
I think that's a laughable statement. If Haye hit any harder than Holmes, it's BARELY. Holmes might not have had the right hand power of Lewis, or Foreman, but the man had legit power. Haye is not a legit puncher at heavyweight. At cruiserweight, but not heavy. There's NOTHING to suggest him being a bigger puncher than Holmes. NOTHING.
The way he koed chisora, who went the distance with a few good puncher whiotut even being fazed, is imo, a good enough proof that he his power is more than legit at HW.
Probably yes. But even in his prime, I'm not sure he Koes him. Or at the very least, he would need a lot more punches than Haye to do so.
Haye BEATS Cooney... Haye was Athletic & Skittish Enough to AVOID Cooney's Big Left Hook, yet Hit HARD Enough to END Cooney w/a Few Solid Blows... Sure, Cooney was FADED by Then, but Still, he Couldn't Even Handle the Speed of Michael Spinks...Haye Brought CONSIDERABLY More Mobility w/Him, to the Heavyweight Division, Haye Probably had QUICKER Hands than Spinks, AND he Punched Harder... Haye Eventually KO's Any Version of Gerry Cooney, 8 Out of 10 Times... REED:fightme:
me either... he's fast and he has some pop but there's a whole lot wrong mechanically, I think his whiskers are questionable and I think he's a bit of a front-runner his effort against wald pussy was disgraceful and made doubly worse by the fact that wald pussy himself was scared to death
