On a sporting note, The Queen will be opening up the Commonwealth Games taeneet here in sunny Glesga at Celtic Park. The National anthem will be sung and many a Union flag waved as an estimated billion people look on.

Welcome tae Scotland, Ma'am and may Ah wish yer wee great grandson, George, a happy first birthdee.

That is the greatest footballing performance I've ever seen. You know how much I hate Barca but even I had to applaud that one. It wasn't even like Real weren't trying, Barca were just too good.

same here... it was like FIFA... They dominated possession to an absurd degree against such a formidable opponent. It's an utterly amazing result.

It was one of the few times I found the Tiki Taka fun to watch, because Real just all out in attack (as they'd just bought Ronaldo and were destroying everybody in the league up to that point), it was so naive and played right into Barca's hands. In a way it was the best thing that happened to Real as it forced them to change up their style.

What was even cooler was how fucking gay Ronaldo looked pouting while his superior in the number 10 shirt made fools of his teammates

    I knew that was coming.

Still, Ronaldo has paid them back aplenty since

It's a fair point, Barca's front three are the three best players in South America, the fourth best just signed for Real Madrid. Those two clubs have an insane amount of sway over Latin footballers which of course account for a large percentage of elite players, but I'd still say the Premier League is still the number one attraction for everyone else. It all changes, man.

How in the hell is Cyprus ranked #14 in UEFA.(Out of 54 nations) I saw they had two clubs in the CL and thought it was a mistake.

Probably one of the 3 or 4 worst in history. In terms of headline talent, worst ever.

Hut/Cdogg (I could look this up but too lazy right now):

When was the last time Celtic were matched up against an English side in either the CL or EL/UEFA Cup. And how did they do?

Last time was vs Arsenal under Mowbray and we got pumped. Previous to that we drew Man Utd a couple of times and did pretty well. Beat them at home I'm told. I was there but have no memory of it. Prior to that we knocked Liverpool out in 2003 and were knocked out by them in 97 on away goals. All very closely contested except Vs Arsenal.

Yeah Celtic-Arsenal is the last one I remember, it happened way too late to be honest. I really wanted that match up to happen when Arsenal were at their best and Celtic had the likes of Larsson and Sutton

'SUNDERLAND boss Gus Poyet is ready to launch a bid to lure Celtic centre half Virgil van Dijk to the Stadium of Light.'

The six foot foor Orangeman might be on his wee fer a princely 10 million poonds. The coffers are brimming at Sellic.

Gerrard given a new contract extension (another year) at 190k per week. Not sure that's great value. Added to purchases like remy and lambert, I would hope that lallana and, more speculatively, markovic have good seasons.

More like 90k depending on who or what rag you believe. Henry & Co. have done a great job reducing our wage bill, Gerrard taking home 190k goes against everything they have done in the last 2 years.

Excluding the above, we still have 60/70 million to spend, I'm hoping we secure a Vidal / Reus / DiMaria type player before the start of the season
