Mayweather could re-match Cotto right after Maidana at 147 for the elusive three-division championship contest

If Cotto plays his cards right that's what his gameplan should be. A bidding war between Canelo and Mayweather.

Next time somebody mentions Floyd's titles above 130, I'm going to make sure I tell them none of them are real because Mayweather is only a true junior lightweight

Because he Plans on MILKING the Title for Some LOW Risk, HIGH Reward Bouts...Isn't that OBVIOUS???...

Though he's Shown Capable of BEATING 160lb Men, Cotto KNOWS he's NOT a TRUE Middleweight...As Such, he'll Look to Make Bouts w/Guys he has a REALISTIC Chance of Beating, @ this Stage of his Career...

MANY Undersized Fighters have Done This, Throughout HISTORY, After Winning Titles in Divisions OTHER than their TRUE 1...

It's NOT a Novel Concept, Dude...

Because some guys have used weight chicanery to hold on to belts they don't deserve, they deserve to keep their titles anyway... Got it

this only occurs in the jr. mid and middleweight division.

GGG - the perfect weapon. All of his shit is almost paid for!

    Who Said Anything about "Deserves"???...

The System has ALLOWED Guys to Do This DECADES PRIOR to Miguel Cotto Being in Position to Take Advantage of It...

In a PERFECT World, Which Professional Boxing is the POLAR OPPOSITE Of, Cotto Never Even Would've Entertained the IDEA of Moving Up to Middleweight...Martinez WOULDN'T have Neglected to Face GGG & Golovkin Would Almost Assuredly ALREADY BE the "Lineal Middleweight Champion"...

If THE ONLY Path to a Middleweight Title was THROUGH GGG, REED GUARANfuckingTEES Cotto NEVER Would've Moved Up...Why???...Because Cotto AIN'T a True Middleweight...

Just Because Cotto Found an ADVANTAGEOUS Scenario Which Resulted in him Becoming the "Lineal Middleweight Champion" DOES NOT All of a Sudden Make him a TRUE Middleweight, Bro...

Nobody Said Anything about Being "Cool" w/It & the Sanctioning Bodies are the 1's ENABLING This Practice, NOT Fans...

The Sanctioning Bodies ALLOW Undersized, yet MARKETABLE, Fighters to Pick & Choose Which Champions they Want to Move Up and Fight...

AND their Title Defenses, if they Sooooo Happen to BEAT that Champion...

Whoever has the money can dictate the terms. I can understand the bigger draw getting the bigger share of the purse, but that should be the end of it.

It's one of the things that's sucked about boxing for decades. Imagine a small market NFL team making it to the Super Bowl and a team like the Giants or Cowboys saying "well if you want to play this game it's going to be an 85 yard field and we get to pick the ball used. If you don't like it we'll play the third, fourth or fifth best team. The majority of people are going to buy tickets to see us, you should be happy just to have the opportunity. Take it or leave it".

I don't know that they're enabling it. They've basically positioned themselves in such a place that nobody cares about them. Maybe once upon a time if they said "we're not sanctioning it, this is not a world title fight and you can't call it that" it would have been different.

If Mayweather (or anybody else) wants to fight somebody off the street and it will guarantee 40 million they'll bend over backwards to get a piece of that action. They're just gobbling up whatever they can like parasites.

So you're cool with Cotto calling himself the middleweight champ despite not fighting anybody in the division? This kind of shit doesn't fly without the acquiescence of the public

    REED's Fine w/Cotto MILKING a Defense or 2...Joonyah/Bradley or Canelo/Floyd...

After that, he Should Face his Mandatory OR Look to Unify...Having Said That, REED Would Be Absolutely SHOCKED if Cotto DIDN'T Relinquish the Title, After Milking a Defense or 2 (ASSuming he Successfully DEFENDED the Title)...

Why???...Because he KNOWS he's NOT a True Middleweight...If NATHAN Else, Cotto's PROVEN he'll Fight ANYBODY...Dude is COURAGEOUS As Hell...It's Not as if he's AFRAID of GGG, but @ the Same Time, it's a Bout that Even Cotto Himself Would Probably Acknowledge is UNREALISTIC...

    Why???...Because he KNOW'S He's NOT a True Middleweight...

So basically, GGG's highly respected and rated to a certain degree, but he's not going to be considered "great" until he beats all at 168?

GGG's Situation is UNFORTUNATE & NOT a Product of his Own Doing...

    His Division SUCKS...

He's in a Similar Position Roy Jones Was, After Beating Toney @ '68 & Making a Handful of Impressive Title Defenses Against LESS than Stellar Opposition...Roy Eventually Made the Choice to MOVE UP...

It's NOT Imperative GGG Move Up to '68, but that's the CLEAREST Path to Boxing GREATNESS He Has, Undeniably...

Maybe a Superstar Middleweight Surfaces in a Year or 3, but Bear in Mind, Golovkin's ALREADY 32 Years of Age...Time ISN'T On his Side, Necessarily...

If there's a current fighter who has earned the right to have one gimme fight in a division it's Cotto. His record of fighting anyone and everyone speaks for itself. The guy won his title what, little over a month ago and guys are calling for him to give up the title if he doesn't fight GGG next.

Cotto is clearly the A side in any potential promotion. GGG is at best a C+ in the promotion.

Besides, it's not as though Cotto has cherry picked his way through his career or had an easy run of opponents like GGG has had up to this point.

Cut the guy some slack. Jesus.

and as scrubby as chavez jr is, the size disparity is so massive that, as i said, i wouldn't be at all surprised if he beat cotto

edit: is chavez jr/cotto on or off? i heard something about it, checked boxrec & boxrec had it listed. now it's gone.. ?

my prediction: if cotto beats chavez, he fights canelo or rematches mayweather jr next. if he fights ggg, he has massive balls, and he will receive a career ending beating for his efforts.

The truth is, that fight would look like a welterweight Vs a light heavyweight, so it wouldn't exactly be shocking if Junior scrubbed out a win.

I'd still pick Cotto though, he's just so much better.
