    They should go for it.

I believe the Euro in 2020 won't be hosted by any one nation, but cities all over Europe. I imagine Glasgow could be one of them.

It's the same in Saudi apparently. The cultural view is that manual labour is shameful & they import workers to do almost everything. The Americans build garbage trucks for them and they import africans to drive them. Before that they just threw their rubbish in the streets for the goats. Shite, pointless cultures.

Probably. It'll be at hampden though which is a hole.

They should leave the running track round Hampden and just have it as an athletics arena.

Well at least you'll have the opportunity to see a minimum of one match and you won't have to travel to do it.

you almost wonder if they may have been better off... found some other resource to offer... The oil thing, IMO has only helped to reinforce the medieval style of classes there...

I was LOLing with somebody about this the other day actually - imagine archaeologists in 10000 years digging up Las Vegas. A 50 foot plastic burger, fake quarter size eiffle towers and arc de triumphs, a fake tajmahal, a fake sphinx, loads of giant plastic 'M's, giant weirdly shaped buildings all hundreds of yards apart from each other. 'WHAT THE FUCK!?'

The thousands of plastic 'M's would be the best.

They might think they were some kind of religious institutions called 'Murica Temples.

Marcus Stewart also had an absurdly good run as a goalscorer that season, before returning to normal form in the next.

Did you see the piece on HBO's REAL Sports?

After seeing that it makes it 20 x more outragious. Check it out if you can find it. Really horrific shit going on in Qatar.

(Aside from the fact that you can get put to death for being an atheist in that country. You don't believe in magic??? Off with your head!)

My mistake. It wasn't AZ Alkmaar.

It was the Arizona Cardinals. They want him as a place kicker.

I don't want to brush any of that aside as it's a very important issue. Before any of this came about how many people really thought Qatar's bid was legitimate though? It didn't take the wise minds of Petre and Alex Jones to figure out some corruption may have occurred.

The U.S. came in second for the bid. I hope Qatar's election is overturned and America gets it.

The HBO piece is pretty damning. Aside from that issue they talk about the deplorable conditions that these workers are put through, the filthy camps they are forced to live in and how after they arrive they have no option to leave. The estimate that over 4,000 foreign workers (mostly from Nepal) will die building the World Cup stadiums.

They also touch on the Qatari attitude of throwing money at everything and buying anything they want.

The piece shows a Nigerian FIFA offical offering to sell his vote (to undercover journalists) for $800,000 USD. Provides proof that Qatar paid bribe money to shut out any other bids from the middle east or north Africa. FIFA tried to save face by hiring a team to investigate the scandal. They talk to a female member of the team. She said when they produced evidence of widespread bribery that FIFA shrugged their shoulders. It was just an act to even hire a team.

The problem is every WC and Olympic bid has had bribery involved to some degree.

It's not just the bribers who want that swept under the rug.

I think they should take them from Qatar and award them to Ireland/Scotland as joint hosts.

So how about the Champions Cup?

I'm guessing this tournament is not very prestigious given no one seems to be watching it.

It's more for the American fans. Or for the English fans to come over here and get wasted in America. I went to three matches last year (two in a double header at Dodgers stadium.) The clubs want to win but not at the expense of anything regarding the forthcoming season. They field a team like they would in a league cup tie. It's a big event for the people who attend in person but at the end of the day it's an exhibition tournament.

It's easy to complain about the bribery which obviously unpins bidding for World Cups but it's a waste of time - unless all of the major nations decide, en masse, to fuck FIFA off and leave them with a shell of a World Cup whilst the 'rebels' play their own version (which will never happen IMO) then FIFA will continue to award World Cups to whoever pays the largest backhanders. And everyone KNOWS this so you have to ask - why the fuck did England/US/Australia etc not make sure that they were the ones handing out the fattest brown envelopes?

The bottom line is that EVERYONE knows that corruption in FIFA is rife. If you want to win the big hosting rights prizes, you have to play the game. If you are unwilling to do so, stay out of the race because complaining after the event about something you know full well about at the start is an exercise in futility.

    That's kind of my point

    "Best League In The World!"

The EPL loves to brand itself as different from its counterparts, more competitive, fewer minnows, etc. and it's complete and utter bullshit

More great news for Soothhampton. Liverpool and Spurs are competing to sign Jay Rodriguez and Morgan Schneiderlin has handed in a transfer request.

At this rate they won't have any players left. They have to ask people in stands to play. "Hey you there! You look pretty fit. Want to play some football? We have to have 11 players before the game can start".
