Pretty much... At the very LEAST, a viable Rangers side to compete with is needed even just to maintain the status quo, never mind aiming for bigger things

i don't think a Celtic league would do anyone much good. Celtic need to be in the premiership or its over.

The fucked up thing is that, nosedived attendances, depressed hospitality market and all Celtic still have the 4th or 5th highest match day revenues in Britain.....and it means nothing. Swansea get more from Rupert than our entire turnover just for being in the premiership. Congratulations for turning up, here's 70 million quid. Fuck it.

    it's demented

unfortunately, it doesn't appear very likely that Celtic will be in the Premier League any time soon

Eventually, at this rate, things have to deteriorate over time to a point where Celtic are no longer big enough to even raise a stink about it in the first place

The big teams from Portugal, Holland, Belgium, Austria, Scotland & whoever else is game should just start a super league. UEFA don't like it? Fuck it, break away from UEFA unless they've got a better solution. Things can hardly get any worse.

It's not a terrible idea but i imagine that would extremely difficult to organize and probably wouldn't get a lot of support.

    yup

Benfica, Porto, Sporting, Ajax, Feyenoord, PSV, Club Brugge, RSC Anderlecht, Austria Wien, Rapid Wien, Celtic, Rangers

Wonder what kind of cash a league with each of those in it would generate??

    Between them:

347 Domestic League Championships (Top Divisions only)

402 Domestic Cup Wins (combining "FA" style cups with League Cups and assorted Super Cups)

32 Major European Trophies won (Combining European Cup/UEFA Cup, CW's Cup, Europa, CL, Super Cup ... I did NOT include Intertoto cup wins or appearances as the competition was a minor one really... I also didn't include Club World Cups/Intercontinetnal Cups)

27 times Runners-up in the same European competitions mentioned above

I believe Uefa / FA clearly stated that no new Welsh teams can enter the English league. This was a round about way of saying NO to Celtic.

Amazingly, none of the three Dutch teams listed there has ever lost a final of a European competition... I don't know what to make of that, really, just thought it was interesting

I cannot see that ever happening. At least a Celtic league would have some competition. A pro team based in Dublin would do very well.

Fuck that guy. And I can't imagine what Southampton is doing now. I feel bad for their supporters. Especially after having a good season. The Florida Marlins did this in 1997 but it was AFTER they had just won the World Series.
I see that Swansea put Michu out on loan. I thought he was one of their best players last year. I don't know what they hell they are thinking either.

Finally got the lowdown on what the shit happened in cessnock a fortnight ago. The happy news is, I started nothing, I was quite darling, brushed off their shit to me then only invited him outside when he got fixated on slagging off a girl we were with. Everyone's a winner. Shalom. Known, repeat offender arseholes, apparently. A message has been passed on that 'I'm a ticket' but i predict i'll survive.

Good night's sleep tonight, no. I think I'll have a celebratory westons to a rare MORAL AND MARTIAL VICTORY.

Agreed. 15 years ago I would have been sure it would but now we're in dimension x where West brom are 'bigger' than Celtic the thing makes less and less sense.

It's gonna take a united front from all the teams in the smaller leagues demanding the same thing. Fitbaw trade unionism.

Yeah, Celtic had a better chance way back when, shame really. A top championship side is sadly a better destination than Celtic, IMO.

If I lived in Scotland I think I would support Hibs. From Trainspotting and actually liking The Proclaimers music. I like the song they sing before matches. "Sunshine on Leith." I liked the name Motherwell because it reminded me of my favorite word, 'Motherfucker." But when I saw they wore red it was over.

The whole thing's dying on its arse. Most years I'm there week in week out but i just cant be bothered right now.

'Oh so and so we just signed looks a player!'
'Who gives a shit, he'll just be at fucking Swansea next summer'.

As I said earlier: Fuck it.

If the clubs could convince uefa to sanction a "cup" competition between those teams. This completion would in effect be a league, the local league would eventually die off.

of course, ol Platini and the boys would never allow it.

Has Platini said anything explicitly? I took him as being pretty concerned about the impact of money on the sport fwiw. I wonder if he has any other solutions.

This was seriously mooted once but never got much further: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlantic_League_(football)

I think it's a sensible idea. Anything which challenges the current status quo cannot be a bad thing. Modern fitba is dogshit.

This is why modern fitbaw is fucked. Supporters now have no power at all because they are no longer the principle financial driver of clubs. Unless the TV bubble bursts, we are all screwed.

Not that it will happen, but do you think it would be much better if they converted to the "50 + 1" rule like they have in Germany?

UEFA isn't going to do shit... the whole thing is fucking rigged and bought

They don't give a fuck about anything other than money coming in... Nobody's boycotting Barca/Real/Bayern/Chesea/Arsenal/ManU/ManCity/PSG/Monaco and the club owners of sides that are never going to win a fucking thing but have little risk of relegation have no reason to fight anything... they are getting PAID whether they finish 12th or 1st... UEFA has it's handshakes and encouragements with this stuff just as FIFA does with the ridiculous World Cup selection process
