That's ridiculous, you haven't come close to reaching that point, for one and for two, Man City is a big club... You just bought one of the best forwards in the world, you will almost certainly finish top 4 and get another Champions League slot in the group stages without any qualifying nonsense

West Brom is a nothing club compared to Celtic... Swansea City, Southampton... Norwich City! These clubs are nothing, totally nondescript shit who have won nothing and will continue to win nothing... BUT, they had a nice 70Mil head start so they are "bigger" than Celtic

We can't outbid relegation-zone Premier League SHITE despite being a million times bigger in terms of support, attendance, historical significance, etc.

Let me know when Arsenal is a feeder club for Real Betis or Chievo Verona and then you'll have a valid comparison

Following football more closely I'm sort of realizing there are only like a dozen or so good players in the entire world, the rest of the players might as well not even have the names on the back of their jersey.

there's only a few GREAT players and yes, they play disproportionately for Real and Barca

But there are loads of good-very good players

 

It seems the average players are quite limited and have shaky consistency whereas the real good players seem to make a joke of it.

For example I like Daniel Sturridge but it's very obvious he has no shot. I think despite being second in goal scoring not a single one was outside of the penalty area.

Whereas again Luis Suarez sort of made a joke of it with how much he scored compared to everyone else. He can big one from 30 yards or more, lethal free kick shooter...clinical in the box.

Many of the other players are "Okay this a great scoring chance flip a coin and hope it lands tails"

 

Well you are describing two very different types of forward... Sturridge's job is to poach, to finish... Most strikers are going to score their goals in the box because it is what they specialize in... fast-twitch muscles, rapid acceleration over a few feet, "quickness" if you will... Their job is to pounce on small opportunities in front of goal and convert them... A "number 9" is traditionally this type of player... The lion's share of goals scored in a football match will be scored in that box and a striker must be absolutely deadly over short distances in quick bursts... A striker also needs to have at least some heading ability, and he's got to be able to volley a loose ball up for grabs in the air... it is far more difficult than it looks... The definitive example of the finisher/poacher of this kind is probably the legendary German footballer Gerd Muller... Germany has had several notable men in this role (Rudi Voller is another)

Suarez is more of a "creator", a "number 10" in the tradition... This is a player who has several jobs, one of them is to create chances for the striker, get the ball to him so he can make it into a goal... These types of players must have pace, vision, tremendous short passing ability and great skills in dribbling and ball control... Some of the most celebrated footballers ever are "number 10s" or at least nominally number 10s... Maradona, Messi, Cruyff, etc. ... In addition to all of this, they need to share some of the qualities of the pure striker, they need an accurate shot and because they usually play a little behind a pure striker, they will score more goals from further away

 

Yes i do understand that but clearly the number 10 is greatly superior to the number 9. The 9 in my view is a result of limitation.

Watching Sturridge he almost always passes on open shots in the box to get closer...

However, clearly Suarez is just as lethal in the box. Outside of playing the ball in the air what clear advantage does Sturridge have? And don't say speed because functionally it is almost moot,

Suarez could easily play his role while Sturridge would fail miserably vice versa.

This is mainly the point I was making.

 

Well you can't compare a player as special as Suarez that way... It is precisely the fact that Suarez is so multi-faceted that makes him special... A more typical number 10 would not be as good or better than Sturridge in those short bursts in front of goal and wouldn't score as often... Suarez is easily one of the 10 greatest players on Earth, probably one of the 5 greatest... Sturridge is a very good striker, though, make no mistake...
