Awful injury. At least there was no structural damage and the surgery was succesful. The rehab will be long & painful though.
AWFUL News... REED Doesn't Wish Injuries on ANYBODY...No, Not Even Danny Green... Get Well Soooooon, PG... REED:mj:
Will the Pacers even MAKE The Playoffs, Sans Paul George???... Lest we Forget, Lance Stephenson & Evan Turner have Signed w/Other Teams...Even in the East, is David West, Roy Hibbert, George Hill and Luis Scola ENOUGH to Make the Playoffs???... REED:mj:
Since Thibb's is one of the coaches he'll have eyes on Derrick the entire time. Plus, with 2 years aways from basketball, it's in their best interest to have him play to shake off the rust now rather than the regular season. Prior to PG's injury I was happy to see Rose play at the same speed and explosiveness. He was a bit rusty at times, but that's to be expected. Secondly, the second unit looked absolutely horrible. Lillard and DeRozan are the only two worth taking another look at to make the roster. MAYBE Drummond if you only want a big body. John Wall was fucking awful. When you're a point guard and can't pass, shoot or defend it's a wrap. You don't belong on that kind of team.
Rose looked good. Drummond is worth having on the team as long as he doesn't try any post moves. Cousins looked like shit. They might not win this tournament. Drummond Davis Durant Harden Rose Irving Beal Korver Millsap Cousins Derozan Lillard
REED Gets the RUST Thing w/Rose, but Dude's Injured BOTH Legs...If REED's the Bulls GM, he Pulls the Plug on the Team USA Experiment... PG's Injury Could DRASTICALLY Alter the Way NBA Players Perceive Playing for Team USA, Moving Forward...Imagine if the Upcoming Season was a CONTRACT Year for George???...NOBODY Would Feel Sorry Enough to Sign him to a MAX Contract, Coming Off this Type of Injury, Would They???... Having Said That, Derrick Rose Looked SENSATIONAL...Even During Last Season's BRIEF Stint, he Wasn't Playing ABOVE the Rim, as he Did Last Night...Coach K's SAID All Week, that Rose Looked Good, & it was VALIDATED Last Night, Undoubtedly... As for the TEAM Itself, REED was a Bit Disappointed w/the LACK of Shooting...It's NOT Like Anybody was Guarding the Wings, yet Guys REPEATEDLY Missed Wide Open Jumpers...Particularly in the 1st Half... REED:mj:
Speaking of Missed Jumpers, Anthony Davis was BULLSHITTING in the 1st Half as Well...Get Your BIG Ass in the Fucking PAINT, Dude... Durant had Arguably THE Best Dunk of his Life, @ Davis' EXPENSE... REED:mj:
I had a conversation about this very thing last night. Fast forward to an Olympic year and say someone of Lebron's stature is in the last year of his contract. Does he play? I wouldn't unless I have a deal in place. I didn't fault Kevin Love for bowing out. PG is lucky this season was the first year of his extension. He still gets his $90 million. The question is, what will the NBA do to help the Pacers with a cap issue seeing they lost their best player? Those extra millions Lance wanted doesn't seem so expensive now.
While I'm at it...George handled that shit like a MAN. He wasn't writhing on the floor in pain. It put into perspective the diving soccer fags do and the dramatics when they feign a kick to the shin guard.
agREED... Korver is JUST a Spot Up, Catch & Shoot Guy...The Splash Brothers can Create their Own Shot OR Catch & Shoot...Curry Can FACILITATE, Create his Own OR Catch & Shoot... No Way Steph Curry is Cut from this Squad... TOUGH Decisions Ahead, for Team USA... REED:mj:
The League Will Eventually Have to Provide Financial ASSURANCES/INSURANCE for Those that Play on Team USA... Btwn the NBA & the U.S. Olympic Committee, Allowances WILL Be Given, After This... THE WORST Thing that Could've Happened was an American Player Getting BADLY Injured in the Waning Minutes of a NATIONALLY TELEVISED Scrimmage, On American Soil... VOILA, It Transpired!!!... REED:mj:
Damn I missed that scrimmage. Thought it would be availble for download somewhere but no luck. Anyway word is Silver is already planning to have meetings to discuss if it is actually worth it to have stars headlinning for USA basketball.
Stars should only play for the Olympics. That world cup is useless. Build a second tier team to compete in that FIBA cheap tourney.
It's a big deal around the world. Just not here. Like Mark Cuban said. The US and the NBA owners should create their own world Ball tournament.
REED's Hearing the Meetings will Be Geared MORE Towards Providing Salary Cap Relief to the PRO Teams of Injured Team USA Members... Players will No Doubt Take HARDER, Looooooooooonger Looks @ Team USA & Will Decide Accordingly, Based on their Own Individual Thought Processes, but REED Doesn't Foresee the NBA Pressuring Team USA... Paul George Getting Hurt "Playing for his Country", Is MUCH Better P.R. than the NBA Minimizing it's Relationship w/Team USA... REED:mj:
in 1 year nobody will give a shit about this world tournament. But PG will still be out with injuries. and he may never be the same again.
That's Been Discussed as Well...Going w/the Under 19 Team... The Thing is, the U.S. Wants to DOMINATE the Basketball Landscape Worldwide, Which ISN'T a Guarantee when 19 Year Olds are Playing Against the Tony Parker's, Dirk's, Gasol's & Ibaka's of the World, in International Play... REED:mj:
Might be a nice way for them to see which prospects are NBA ready and can play within a team system however. If they actually win anything it would be gravy, and a lot easier to play the underdog America role, rather then the ever present monolithic villain, we're not really comfortable with. Basketball is bigger then Hockey, but everybody remembers the "Miracle On Ice". We became the Russian Hockey team when we started sending NBA players to the Olympics. If we win, we were supposed to, if we lose it's "what's wrong with American Basketball?" People remember the teams we sent, but does anybody remember a single goddamn game they ever played (unless you had a rooting interest in a team going up against them)?
