Of course, Vitali had the best defense in the sport when he was coming up and near best power and never lost a round. Then, when he changed style, he had the best punch output of any heavy in the sport. Nothing impressive there.

Hopkins was so impressive he was getting his ass handed to him by guys like Robert Allen and Segundo Mercado and putting up no resistance to Roy. One of the main reasons he's been an underdog throughout his career is because he wins without looking impressive. Of course there are some exceptions, but they are exceptions.

    Amir Khan.

No chin. No technique. No ring intelligence. Yet a World Champ and ONLY for Kindelan, an Olympic Gold Medalist.

Only thing he does impressively is fight wildly when hurt {a byproduct of his not knowing what else to do} and let his hands go well. The rest is straight out of the "My First Day At The Gym" handbook.

Pretty impressive that he has Pretty Boy Floyd going for the rematch with a Victim of Khan, Maidana.

Vitali was just bigger than everyone. If he was the same size as everyone he would have lost all those fights. PHACT.

OLD Hopkins is unimpressively impressive, the same as OLD Foreman.

There was absolutely no mystery to how either man got the job done when they were young fighters.

Margarito in his pomp, unless you count heavy hands, a steady workrate, and a good chin, which I guess is impressive enough (leaving aside gloves speculation). Maybe he's a bad example. He definitely overachieved.

Arthur Abraham, particulary during his first title reign

There now, like Mosley, has to be some revision of their respective achievements, albeit it has to be said that Mosley always was and always will be the superior fighter and would have been so whether he did or didn't KO the mans ass.

Hardly... Monzon did the same things over and over, he just happened to do them really well... Every guy he fought knew he was going to stand straight up, move only a little as needed, jab and cross... If you got close he'd tie you up, rabbit punch a bit, wait for the ref to break it up and then resume the same basic tactics... On occasion there would be an uppercut mixed in or a hook but essentially it was jab jab jab jab cross jab until either the 15 rounds were up or he hurt you bad enough with one of those rights to go in for the kill

so believable is what I'm saying that it was said at the time that Monzon never seems to
impress his challengers, yet he always clearly defeats them

A guy like Brian Mitchell comes to mind. There was not ONE single thing he was great at. Just very solid, technical, and workman like all around.
