TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION GENRE - ACTION/ADVENTURE/SCI-FI PREMISE - (Taking from IMDB) After the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons that leveled Chicago, humanity thinks that all alien robots are a threat. So Harold Attinger, a CIA agent, establishes a unit whose sole purpose is to hunt down all of them. But it turns out that they are aided by another alien robot who is searching for Optimus Prime. Cade Yeager, a "robotics expert", buys an old truck and upon examining it, he thinks it's a Transformer. When he powers it up, he discovers it's Optimus Prime. Later, men from the unit show up looking for Optimus. He helps Yeager and his daughter Tessa escape but are pursued by the hunter. They escape and Yeager learns from technology he took from the men that a technology magnate and defense contractor named Joshua Joyce is part of what's going on, so they go to find out what's going on. CRITIQUE - I saw this one with really low expectations after having a trusted friends review. All in all it wasn't as bad as I thought. The story wasn't that bad, probably one of the better Transformer stories, either that or my expecations were so low they brought the film up. Either way just like the other ones I have no intention of ever sitting through it again. Some of the negatives were: Transformers having no depth - The main transformers were so 1 dimensional and sterotypical. You had the Japanese with samari honor, the fat redneck war buff, and the Aussie 2 faced possible bad morals guy. You also got Optimus Prime pissed off at humanity and trying to decide how much he should still help humans after the betrayl they did against the autobots. The new enemy transformer displayed more depth than any other transformer in the film. The Dialouge - This is the films biggest negative and what makes it almost unwatchable. The dialogue in itself wasn't the worst, in fact many of the convo's weren't that bad. The problem was 90% of every spoken line was an attempt at humor. I mean things can get very distracting when there's so much funny dialogue in the convo's that the over saturation of humor actually kills the film's humor. Some of the lines might have actually been funny if they weren't just preceded by 100 previous lines of humor. I mean is this a movie or stand up comedy? SPOILER ALERT: The humor actually gets so overbearing that I guess they realized they didn't need the comedy relief guy anymore so they actually kill him off about 20 minutes into the film. I found this moment to be the highest point of the film and wanted to stand and cheer because if there was anything this film needed it was a lot less comedy, or should I say attempts at comedy. SCORE - Anyway, I kind of thought it wasn't bad and I didn't leave the theater feeling disappointed is the best thing I can say about it. I also wouldn't recommend it, unless you're a huge fan of the other films and actually enjoy watching them more than once. 5.5/10
Lb knows i dont watch that shit. I saw the first one and to me, that was a mistake. I havent seen any of the shitty sequels.
Completely unwatchable...on a par with Sharknado, except with a budget of several hundred million extra...like those incoherent seizure-inducing Japanese cartoons aimed at kids
Just saw the movie in 3D. Best movie in the franchise imo. I will give the movie a 7/10. Now I understand why the movie made $300 million in China. The latter half of the movie was filmed there.
