But it is hugely effective. Most clubs would give their right arm for that consistency. They don't owe any money, have a great stadium, and have kept wolves away.

That's nice if you're an accountant or investor. TKO's point was about being a fan and I agree.

While it must have been painful for Liverpool supporters to come so close last year and have it slip away, at least they made a run for it.

Liverpool made a run for it by complete accident. Thats the point. Arsenal are always "trying to win it", and that means, theoretically, that 3 or 4 teams fall short every season.

Arsenal's odds must be 280/1 now. Just not their day. Leicester next week...they're no easy pushovers either.

Arsenals "open-country" players are having no joy with Evertons stoke-on-trent defensive style. Everton get everyone back, pack the box. You need a Suarez in there, a guy who can turn on a six-pence. Either that, or keep setting up a long-ranger for shots on target. Arsenal are doing neither.

See, Giroud with the long ranger and it was a good chance. Turn the fucking defense. Don't keep it in front of them.

Into the corner for Baines, into the corner for Lukaku. When Arsenal break, Everton flood back but they don't even attempt to kill the attack in the centre of the park, they let it build to the 18 yard box, then stifle it. Then their "break" involves into the corners for Baines, into the corner for Lukaku.

That time, he had nobody really else up with him. They were all back behind him and he kind of had to either wait or try it alone.

See the way Everton ran into the corner and then cut it back for a shot from Naismith...give them credit for doing the basic thing well. I haven't seen Arsenal try that once.

Finally, Everton break up an Arsenal attack in the middle of the field, almost get a chance out of it too, but Per Mert gets back. Shitty final ball truth be told.

Why do high level teams continue to start Mesut Ozil? The guy is garbage. I could be wrong but I believe if you have an AMC who can't actually score he damn well better be a near Xavi level playmaker. Ozil isn't even close, half the time I see him playing absolutely terrible balls, he's average at best physically, he doesn't really take defenders on.

    :dunno:

Saying Ozil is garbage is like saying a piece of string is short.

    He's not and its not.

    It's about horses for courses.

What a gut wrenching result for Everton.

They were much better the entire game.

    1. Its not over

    2. No, they were not.

They had no midfield defusing and their attacks involved breaking and knocking it into corners. Their defense involved retreating to the ropes, letting Arsenal run out of ideas, then countering via the pockets.

They had way more verve and dash than Arsenal, but that is not quality per se.

BVB lost by conceding a goal at about 0:15 and 94:45

Not a great start to the season, especially at home. :pathetic:

I only watched bits and pieces of the Arsenal-Everton match as I had a couple of streams running simultaneously. In the first half it looked to me like they simply got outworked. For a team of Arsenal's size I've said in the past Cazorla and Giroud should be more bench players than starters. They both get substituted in and combine to equalize. I guess I was sort of right.

They played well, Arsenal played badly and still got the draw. 2nd half was all Arsenal. Draw is deserved.

No they do not go for it. They do enough to stay ahead of Spurs / LFC / Everton.

Going for it means a 60 million bid for Suarez last season, Going for it means signing a real striker, a top CB & someone like kheridia NOW.
Arsenal go for 4th and deep down the Arsenal faithful know it.
The debt / stadium argument went out with the Indians, Arsenal have had a reported 200 million for the last few seasons but continue to sign average players. Sanchez the one exception for this massive, wealthy, London football club

Stick Xavi out on the wing and see him impersonate Ozil.
