Who should play Black Panther?

Since Black Panther is being rumored as a potential movie OR a Netflix series, the speculation of whom should play the Wakanda king, T'Chala, is the guessing game of the moment. Different names are being tossed around, but my ideal pick for that role is still 46 year old Michael Jai White: he can act, he has the physique for the role plus he is a decent martial artist too. BTW Terry Crews could play his father,T'chaka.

Few years ago I would have said Snipes. I always liked his martial arts fight scenes, but he might be getting a bit long in the tooth for that kind of thing now. I suppose MJW would be a decent substitute.

It should be played by Jamie Foxx. Michael Jay White is too B movie for the role.

I would imagine they would go with somebody younger like Chadwick Boseman or Michael B. Jordan if it's a higher profile movie.

If it's a Netflix series, I imagine there might be a million different lesser known and cheaper actors on their radar.

    agREED...

Jai-White Would Be a Perfect STUNT DOUBLE, for Fight/Action Scenes...But in Terms of Pure ACTING Ability, he's Definitely a LOWER Tiered Guy...

Chadwick Boseman could do it, but not Michael B. Jordan since he is currently attached to play the Human Torch in the Fantastic Four reboot.

It's Almost to the Point Chadwick Boseman Plays EVERY Iconic Black Figure, These Days:lol:...VERY Good Young Actor, No Doubt, but there are OTHER Young Brothers Out There, as Well...

Boseman's Played Jackie Robinson, James Brown...Rumor has it he's Tabbed to Play Gary Coleman in his Biopic, Emmanuel Lewis in His & Kareem Abdul Jabbar...He's Also Going to Play the Lead of Joe Frazier, but will Stunt Double as All of Frazier's Opponents, Simultaneously, Including Ali & Foreman...

Chadwick Boseman plays Eddie Murphy playing Fat Mama, Fat Papa, Fat Auntie, Skinny Old Jew and Mr. Rogers.

Well if we will be considering a very good young black actor, then Chiwetel Ejiofor is the man to go for. Only thing is that he will need to hire the same trainer that helped Henry Cavil bulk to a superhero physique.

The black panther should be older. So Ejiofor isn't terrible. I would prefer someone like idris elba.

If they are gonna go young they should go with Pooch Hall or Charles Michael Davis.

WTF is up with all this great actor shit? It's a Marvel film about a super hero named the Black Panther not a biopic about some real life political figure. Just stick Michael J. White's ass in there, because I care more about how good his fight scenes are going to look then how well he delivers his lines.

You have to have good acting or else nobody will give a fuck in the long run. That is why Spawn was never a hit cause White cant act.

The fight scenes dont have to even be the actor. he could be a stunt double. Nobody will know.

Dude you're are tripping. Spawn didn't bomb because the dude can't act. It bombed because it was a shitty film. Also staring a Marvel flick doesn't require you to be an Oscar level worthy actor. Any decent actor will do and MJW is decent enough for it. He'll be doing no better an acting job then Snipes did for Blade.

It was as shitty movie because White is a shitty actor. You need someone that can carry a movie. Not someone struggling through his lines. Marvel movies today arent just some bullshit. You have oscar winners playing these roles now. And you cant have some shitty actor trying to go toe to toe in the acting portion of the movie with no Oscar winner. I can imagine the dialogue with White and Downy Jr. now and just laugh my ass off. And please done compare Snipes to White. Snipes is on a whole different level.

Michael Jai White was pretty great in "Black Dynamite". Both the live action version and as the voice actor in the animated series.

That said, his window has long ago closed to lead any sort of major movie franchise. Maybe a bit part as a villain here and there would be more in his wheelhouse right now.

it was also a parody of a black exploitation which in it self had bad acting.

The DEPTH & LONGEVITY of the Comic Book Character is Based On his Out of Costume Scenes...You NEED Some Semblance of Acting Ability to Pull that Off, Bro...

Black Panther was an African Prince, if REED's Not Mistaken...Michael Jai-White's Only Point of Reference for that is Likely Eddie Murphy's "Coming to America"....Since he's NOT a Quality Actor, Jai-White Might End Up Imitating Eddie Murphy, Imitating an African Prince...

SPAWN was an awful movie even if Edward Norton was the lead.
And you are right about the stunt double: once he puts on the mask even a white stunt double can be Black Panther.

I was thinking the same. Djimon Hounsou, but Marvel will be looking for an african american. His accent is too thick (french?) to attract a mainstream audience.

Movie studio suit tossing names: "I got it! We need a black star with a proven box office track! Is Kevin Hart good for the role or is he too short? We can use CGI to make him taller..."

He has a real African accent imo. You can't find a guy looking more African imo.
