I thought Man U should have sold Rooney even before Van Persie came on board. I don't believe they can work well together either so I'm doubtful more time is what's necessary. Mata can finish but he's he seems better as playmaker. Di Maria can pass the ball but he's not a number 10. So in other words I don't think they get in each other's way just because they have skills beyond their shirt numbers.

It's a bit of a mess. Usually one would figure it takes a "strong" manager to sort it out. Maybe this is a case where that doesn't work. It's not as if I'm an expert strategist but it seems at least a few coaches walk into a club with a "philosophy" of how things should be done. From everything I've read Van Gaal wants to use a 3-5-2 like the Netherlands used at the WC. (or a 3-4-1-2) Is that really best for United? (or any club for that matter) Instead of using the pieces available it's forcing them where they don't always fit in order to complete a puzzle.

Guardiola has done something similar with Bayern. Luckily for him he had a much better team than Moyes inherited. It still didn't help him when they were ass raped by Real Madrid.

The two Sheffield clubs pulled off upsets today. And both on the road.

United went down to West ham and got the win. Wednesday were away to Burnely and turned them over.

Huge game for Arsenal. Need to put away Betsikas early.

Huge loss if Giroud is out until January. What a freak injury. He has been very reliable. I suspect he'll be back before then though.

Sheffield Wednesday had the easiest draw I've ever seen in last season's FA Cup. Until they finally got bounced in the quarterfinals. They finally played a non-pub team that deep in the tournament.

Well, to be honest, laddie, we have been pony so far at the back but I think we will improve gradually. I wouldn't risk putting any QPR defenders in your FF team.

I like Van Gaal, he says it as it is and doesn't take no shoite. "You can't build a team in one month", which is obviously true but in football these days managers aren't really given that much time to build a team if they're losing games they shouldn't be losing and dropping points.

It looks like Liverpool circa 1992-7 all over again - an era of near total dominance coming to an end with a gradual but obvious decline - to me.

    The parallels are there.

    1. Aura is gone.

    2. Its a changed market. Liverpool encountered a Man United that was expanding Old Toilet to 75,000 seats, a vital accommodation at a time when increasing revenue streams was in its infancy but nonetheless VITAL in the era of the emerging Premier League.

    3. New threats. United in 1992 had a faded liverpool and a sort of shit Arsenal, Leeds..fucking Villa FFS. Now there is a glut of threat, and new managerial talent from without and within. Oil Sheikhs, Jewish Orphan funds, American sports interests, you name it.

    4. Glazers. United getting the Hicks and Gillet treatment.

    5. Criticial early mistakes. Souness was shit and had no business at the Club. A total attention seeker and suit. Fucked up EVERYWHERE he went. Like Moyes, all wrong for the job, albeit Moyes was VASTLY superior. Souness couldn't manage an erection in Hugh Heffner's place.

Sanchez scores for Arsenal to lead Besiktas 1-0. Bilbao and Napoli both scoreless at the half. Leverkusen thumping Copenhagen 3-0.

How has Souness managed a career in punditry? Sure, he was a good player, but he's one of the most ass-backward managers in history... How can a man who signed a player off of a fucking prank call be hired to critique the performances of other managers??? This is a guy who essentially fucking decapitated the most storied English club of them all... It's amazing he has a career criticizing other people

    Souness is a fucking jackass.

The team that are playing tonight, Besiktas, Souness referred to them as a "Dog and Duck Team".......after Liverpool beat them 8-0.

He had to do this as he was attacking Benitez at the time.

He was attacking Benitez because that's what clapped out busted humanitarians like Souness do, they attack people.

It's beyond anything... Utterly crazy. And it's not as if he's likable or charming, either.

You can understand Alan Hansen having a long career... Looked good on camera, well-spoken, etc., the stuff TV people look for

Souness is a charmless thug with an outrageous history and a chimpanzee's brain... His career beyond his playing days is fucking baffling and should have come to an end within a year or two

He is a corporate shill, in essence. Read up on him some more, his NUMEROUS faux-pas and his spats with players and fans. Also, be sure to check out his modern-day equivalent, Robbie Cunto Savage. An excercise in bell-endry of an epic proportion.
