I got dragged into this shit because of all of you guys and watching the 2010 World Cup

Before 2010, I had watched Ireland and America in World Cup games and cheered confusedly

Then I venture into the subject here and before you know it, Hut hits me with Celtic and now I'm stuck... can't get out

Spurs just seem totally nondescript to me. There's a dusty cupboard somewhere in my mind with Spurs, Nick Clegg, Neutral Milk Honey and Birmingham in it.

AgREED on both counts. Seems to me that they are just there to win the odd game big, crow a bit, and then fuck it all up later down the line. Not going to be relegated, not going to win the league, not going to be mid-table, just a total irrelevance.

Spurs lost a little of that "North London through and through" cred when the club bid for the Olympic Stadium in East London. They lost out. Now they're North London all the way again.

What a joke that was. Stretford is just NOT North London. It's not even West Ham, but its a damn sight closer.

They BADLY need a new ground. White Hart Lane holds 35 thousand and they sell out all the time. The place is crawling with touts every weekend.

It's interesting how "You'll Never Walk Alone" is associated with Gerry and The Pacemakers over there... Over here it wouldn't be well known in the contact of rock and roll... The people that would know it at all would recognize it as an old show tune... First time I heard it in any other context was on a Pink Floyd song called "Fearless" that uses a recording of the old Kop singing it... Heard it many times over the years but it's hard to make out on the recording mixed in with Pink Floyd's track... Never realized they were singing that tune until I got into football ... The pacemakers had only minor success over here in the 60s, so their version isn't well known

Spurs are a weird club, they should have had a lot more success. It's not like they're short of money, they're associated with attacking football, in a prime location, large and loyal fan base, but they're constant under-achievers. They've always been a bit frail, you just KNOW they're never gonna last the distance. Weird club.

I know how Liverpool came to sing it, but how did it end up being adopted by Celtic support as well?

Good to hear, you should get him to check out a match at Loftus Road, it's a good atmosphere and there's more chance of us actually doing something

By the way, forgot to tell you, I went to see the Rockies vs Cincinnati a couple of weeks back. Had a great time, baseball is such a different experience to football (I'd say it's much closer to watching cricket live), but I really loved the tradition associated with it. It's a really fun sport to see live too, I saw the closing pitcher for Cincinnati pitch 100+mph balls, it's utterly insane to see live, you just cant appreciate the speed on television. Had a great time.

Aroldis Chapman... Yeah that fellow can throw hard as hell... Baseball live is definitely great... It's expensive as fuck these days, but it's great ... I saw some pretty ferocious throwers live... Clemens in his younger days, Randy Johnson, but I never get to see the fringe maniac level guys like a Chapman or Nolan Ryan live, unfortunately... Haven't even gone to the new Yankee stadium yet, can't bring myself to do it, the old dump was very special to me growing up

my brother in law definitely plans to go to Loftus but he says it's hard to get tickets

Contrary to what LFC fans like to tell themselves Celtic (and Rangers) supporters were singing at on the stands many decades before LFC started in the 60s. So if they didn't get in first or at the same time with YNWA they probably just added it to the songbook soon after because they liked it. Chimed with the cultural memory, I guess.

Hyped up to see Angel Di Maria in the EPL. Have always liked him as a player, he can get where he wants on the pitch and should make United a lot better
