Collection of talent is the best way to put it because it's a vanity project and nothing more. Man City also has a "great" owner. They wouldn't be reigning champions without his extensive football knowledge and keen instincts.

I think the General Manager deserves more credit than given. Man U spends, Man City spends, all the top tier teams spends yet Chelsea is the team that looks the strongest.

While teams were spending absurd fees on Mezut Ozil...Chelsea acquired the likes of Costa and Fabregas for comparatively reasonable sums.

Either way, all the top clubs are rich, so this whole money scam nonsense is just that. Chelsea isn't even top 2 in the EPL in wages.

I get it, you are upset because your RICH club SOLD the best striker in the world and now you are relegated to a season(s) of low expectations. You don't need up be so angry about it.

Since taking over Chelsea Abromovich spent £2 billion.

That's a red herring though. Chelsea's rise and the money spent are completely unrelated. You see Abromovich won the World Cup and Champion's league as a captain and coach. The guy just knows the game in and out. The 2 billion? Chelsea already had that money saved up previously. With an international fanbase that reaches from Tuvalu to Alaska it's not hard to see how they achieved such wealth. None of the money came out of Roman's pocket. He found the cash just sitting there in an office at Stamford Bridge. Some corrupt officials were embezzling funds and Roman liberated the money and spent it on the club he's loved and followed since he was a young boy.

The yacht he purchased was paid for solely on the enormous profits he made since taking over the business direction at the Chelsea football club. In fact he also designed the ship and made all the blueprints as well.

You seem to be under the impression that I was arguing that his fortune was not the reason Chelsea came into prominence.

    I made no such claim.

    I simply do not care.

    It is unimportant.

    Important to who?

Bitter "blue collar" fans on the internet?
Whining will change nothing. The best you can do is wipe the dust off some old VHS's, find a VCR somewhere in an attic and load up tapes of the "glory days" when the Blues weren't running amok on every team in England.

But as far as 2014, Cheslea is FFP complaint and nothing is going to change on that front. And I've already discredited Slice's theory that Chelsea would fall to mediocrity without Abromovich.

    FFP compliant :l3:

Good god... You guys need to stop feeding this troll... He came into this thread wondering aloud about what EPL club he should support and waited for answers... He then purposely picked the one club every man in the thread expressed acrimony towards so that he could write these daft little soliloquies and get everybody mad

Mesut Ozil is shit (demonstrating this by comparing him with Xavi, ffs) ... Daniel Sturridge is a poor striker, etc... It's just throwing things out there hoping to get someone riled up

Actually I didn't do this at all.

I made a comment about Paul Pogba(probably my favourite young player along with Eden Hazard) going to Chelsea and suggested I might follow them because of it, then everyone went into tirades about how Chelsea is evil because they have the big $$$ man.

I mostly don't care about that as it's vapid and I like all their players and Mourinho and the start of the season has been amazing thus far...

But don' t let reality get in the way of a good story.

Furthermore, I haven't exactly made it a point to rub the fact in...literally the extent of my posts about Chelsea was calling them "prestigious" and inquiring about a new transfer I couldn't find much in depth information about and haven't seen play.

I didn't say Sturridge is poor. I said he can't shoot. And he can't. Also....politeness aside get the hell out of here with that. Im pretty sure I'm way more justified in both those commentaries than the weekly Gareth Bale bashing that goes on here by football snobs.

I mean ffs...this is quite literally the first result when typing Mesut Ozil in google. http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2014/09/03/is-latest-mesut-ozil-injury-news-good-or-bad-for-arsenal/

But no, clearly I am a master troll who is the only person to comment on Ozil's poor form. And I compared him to Xavi because he's an alleged playmaker that got transferred for a ridiculous price that could only be justified by the likes of a Xavi maybe 3 years younger. He's not Xavi...he's not even close. I've watched all of Arsenal's games this year and some last year and he doesn't even seem to keep hold of the ball let alone create assists.

Oh and to that same point, I made a speculative point I thought Angel De Maria would be one of the EPL's best players this year and someone took a contrarian point of view on that as well.

I'm not sure who is supposed to be trolling who....

    sturridge can't shoot? Interesting?

what position does Xavi play? How do you think he'd do playing as a winger?

Ozil has barely even played on the wing.

    They are both central midfielders

And as far I can remember Sturridge did not score a single goal from outside of 18 last year.

I'd be willing to wager he doesn't hit 20 goals this season either.

He's a number 9... If he's spending a lot of time shooting from beyond 18 yards, he's not playing his position correctly

Xavi and Ozil play completely different roles in completely different systems for completely different clubs... Comparing them is daft... There's no such position as "playmaker"

Ozil is not a central midfielder, in the same mold as Xavi. Id guess hes played at least 90% of more of his games on the left for Arsenal.

He plays wide within the system but he is still a central attacking midfielder, I agree he is not the same as Xavi in role but this isn't comparing a striker to a fullback people.

That said Iniesta would've been a better comparison but the idea of the players being so specialized that their is zero overlap between players of similar roles solely because they play on different areas of the pitch or have a different style of execution is absurd.

I don't agree with that and I don't think you do either based on how many Messi vs Ronaldo arguments you've participated in.

As far Sturridge being a poacher he actually does shoot from 18, as much as any other player, he just never makes them. It's a limitation in his game. Nothing more, nothing less. His shot is very weak for one and that's probably the biggest issue and it probably contributes to his shaky accuracy.
