Either at 135 or 140. Khan is bigger and faster but we all know Gatti is just one left hook away from ending the fight for as long as it lasts. What gives?
Could go either way, but gun to my head I'd take Khan. Khan has a piss poor chin, but Gatti was totally inept in dealing with speed. There's no question that Gatti gets him in trouble at some point, but I could see Khan surviving and winning a decision. I mean, I would bring up Khan's KO loss to Garcia, but Gatti was nowhere NEAR as good as Garcia. Not in any facet of boxing. If they fought 10 times, I think Khan's speed wins it 6-7 times. About 3-4 times outta 10, Gatti gets him outta there. It'd be an exciting fight though, as both are EXTREMELY flawed in their own ways.
pick-em Khan would land a shitload on Gatti but Gatti had a handy left hook and obviously wasn't afraid to throw it Khan could be up 7-0 and lose it all on one good shot
^This... Khan could keep his back on the ropes...landing bombs...and moving, but Gatti will get his punches in and one of them could end it at any time..or at least rock Khan and turn him into bambi on ice...
I think Gatti's hook was harder but Garcia has way more skill to land one, making him the more effective KO puncher
I can see Khan winning but no way is it easy. Is Gatti any worse than Maidana? And before anyone brings up the Mayweather fights, keep in mind that Floyd is 37 and not nearly the fighter he was back in his day.
I don't think much skill is required to land on Khan... All that is required is for him to actually be penalized for refusing to fight... Every scrub he's fought has landed on him
I think in my mind that Khan is just a fair bit better than Gatti, who for all his endearing watchability was actually pretty shite. MTF
It's not even a merit of skill...Maidana is just much bigger, much stronger and has a better chin. He would've probably knocked Gatti out...it's a complete mismatch. Gatti really was small even for Junior Welterweight...at Welterweight he couldn't even go the distance with Carlos Baldomir. Is he any worse than Maidana. ::
Gatti fuckin sucked. He would have lost to several of Maidana's victims, including Broner, and Ortiz.
Chino has a ton of power too. The style matchup makes it even more ridiculous. This is the issue with Khan MM...it's not even worth the time of day because anyone who has ever scored a KO can beat Khan according to this forum. Gatti wasn't even a particularly big knock out puncher at 140 and Khan has beaten much better power punchers than Gatti. Gatti is so slow and prone to swelling and cutting Khan probably batters him and if not stops him he renders him blind and moot.
For all the flack Gatti gets (And I'm no Gatti fan, I've always felt he was a club fighter), I fail to see how Maidana is truly any better. He's just as shit as Gatti was... Had he run into Mayweather back in 2005, Maidana's fate would have been similar to Gatti's.
Khan is a few cuts above Gatti. As mentionned, this forum will pick anybody who can punch a bit to ko Khan. Gatti would received flurry after flurry of punches, and he will either get koed or stopped on cuts. His only chance is a miracle punch
The Mayweather of 05 would have indeed beaten ten shades of shit outta Maidana, but the fact remains that Maidana is a better fighter than Gatti, and Chino would have stopped Gatti.

Man, Maidana is being overrated like crazy here... He wasn't that much better than Gatti at 140... I'd probably pick him to win, but it's hardly a mismatch... This HUGE puncher couldn't even put A Mere Con on his ass
Yeah, because Khan had the legs to run away, and stay away once hurt. When did Gatti EVER run, or shy away from a brawl? Gatti would TRY to box Maidana, but Maidana would pretty easily pull him into a war. And in an all out brawl, Maidana would club Gatti down, IMO.
It's not like you can't hurt Maidana either... Gatti at the very least could hit to the head and body with the hook... He'd definitely hurt Maidana... I don't object to Maidana being favored... He was stronger at the weight, and I'd pick him to win, but it would be a competitive bout... This is a poor era for the middle divisions...
