Based on mostly the fact that Cooney was a hype job who didn't have much of defense and the fact that Wlad hasn't been downed in nine years which is pretty long time for a heavyweight and seems to indicate that he is able to avoid getting KOed pretty well.

He is easily better than half of the guys Holmes defended against and stylistically a nightmare for a plodder like Cooney. Now come on, I am not saying this era is anything special, it most certainly is not, but it seems even the scrubs of yesterday turn into legends as time goes by. A fight such as Ron Lyle vs Joe Bugner wasn't seen as anything special back in the day, and now as you look it on video, it still doesn't
Wlad and Cooney aren't that far off the same size. Both are around 6'6" with an 81" reach. I think Cooney is a bulkier guy with Wlad trimmer. I can envisage those straight rights causing Cooney some grief but I think he could handle what's thrown at him and land some telling blows of his own. Wlad wouldn't be able to manhandle Cooney like he does with most of his opponents either.
I find it difficult to believe that Cooney was the bulkier because he was 25 lbs lighter and thus a light guy for his height. I also don't think his chin was granite (yes, better than Wlad's but with his defense that isn't enough)
I need my eyes checking :: Holmes beat Cooney with proficiency. Wlad is not as talented as Holmes but I think he could produce a professional performance to win the fight. However, Cooney was able to land shots of his own against Holmes and hurt him bad to the body. If he can tag Holmes, he would tag Wlad.
Cooney would have Wlad selling Coney dogs at Coney Island and Cooney would open a brat stand next to it where you could buy brat and then put them in Wlads snitzle
Call me crazy, but I think that cooney would be able to land a few left hook that makes Wlad crumble. I dont trust wlad against a big hard puncher
