Except he is a kazakhstani wrecking ball, not a homosexual welshman with a pink belt in capoeira

There's talk of GGG the Greatest facing Martin Murray early next year.

Let's see how GGG looks at 168 before making that assumption.

GGG is several light years better than Jeff Lacy.

Before he retires, Cotto will fight Golovkin if he is paid what he wants knowing very well he will end up battered. Cotto is too greedy and has more cojones than brain.

Doubt it....Cotto probably has 2 fight left in him....a easy fight(hopefully)...then a showdown vs. Canelo...the way all these articles are hyping up GGG popularity...he sellout the theater at MSG...he pack in 12 thousand in the Garden....10 thousand over here and there...everywhere....TEAM GGG might price themselves out of a fight vs. COTTO....wanting/asking for more money than the true 3rd best draw in boxing.....

Cotto is quietly in the process of having an all time great career.

cotto's hardly top 10-15 of all time at any weight he fought at, but overall he's had an excellent career. somewhat similar to oscar, but he was more fun to watch.

Don't you dare to say that. It is considered blasphemy in this forum to imagine a scenario where GGG would lose to a contemporary fighter. Only black and white fighters stand a chance to only give him a run for his money.

If you wanna talk about the last 25 years: Jones, Toney, and Hopkins in their primes I'd pick over GGG with no hesitation. I'd pick a prime Nunn over GGG as well, and McCallum. Then you have guys like G-man and Benn, who GGG might beat but we dunno he'd react to that firepower.

Currently, I'd still pick Ward to beat GGG.

You gotta favor guys like toney, nunn, etc. to beat ggg. Still, though, it's interesting to consider how they might've dealt with power like his.

Well, Cotto's career is every bit as good as trinidad's, Benitez ' s, Gomez ' s and obviously camacho's.

I don't think Cotto is an ATG.

I guess different people have different definitions for the term.

And then there's guys with absolute love affairs on display for certain fighters from the first half of last century, and any praise given to contemporary fighters is viewed by them as a threat to their mythology.

I think Cotto is great, a modern great, but not an ATG. I think his handspeed and resilience are just a bit low. Also, he became gunshy after the Margarito loss. I watched him in the Jennings fight and he would freeze when Jennings, a fighter of no note, would throw the right hand. I would say nonetheless that he has been critical to the general wellbeing of the sport for the past 15 years, since the amateurs.

GGG is going to fight Martin Murray next, in February. A good match-up in these circumstances, as Murray is a legit top-5 guy and almost (and probably deserved to) beat both Sturm and Martinez. After this GGG should head north unless Quillin or Cotto fights can be made

We're talking about one fucking fight after getting Plastered by Plasterito's magic wraps ffs

He was a bit gunshy for one fight, and rebounded in a big way, beating good fighters, avenging that defeat, giving Floyd a close fight and now becoming the lineal middleweight champion.

Fucking absurd to bring up the Jennings fight, seriously, at this point it's completely meaningless.

You may remember, I had Murray winning at the time, despite being a Martinez fan.

Murray fought a pretty good fight, but ultimately it was more about Martinez looking crap.

Ultimately I don't think Murray is particularly good at this level, and I expect Gaybox to crush him easily, same as everyone else.
