The fat cockney bastard now pretty much the de facto CEO at Rangers. Trust me - it will not end well for anyone except the fat cockney bastard.

Honestly, this is the very worst development for Rangers, for Shellick and for Scottish football.

How could it get any worse? It's like the League Of Ireland right now. Rangers would take years to recover if they are ever going to recover at all, with or without this idiot being involved... Celtic is dragged down by the overall shiteness of the whole league and Rangers implosion... The only way it could be "worse" than it is right now would be if Celtic had to downsize to a smaller ground by virtue of not being able to attract 50,000 people to watch them play against Ross County FC... If things continue the way they are right now for the next decade plus, it will inevitably happen... This clown being involved in Rangers doesn't matter at all... It's already HEAVY SHITE right now with no sign of improvement

Honestly, things appear so hairy at Rangers I'd just be heartened that an avaricious bastard like Ashley sees them as a viable way to make a quid. If he can get them on an even keel and turning a profit that'd be progress.

Only one of two things will happen next. The first (and by far the most likely) possibility is that Ashley follows his 'successful' NUFC model, strips Rangers to the absolute bone and turns them into a cut-price advertising vehicle for his tat shops. If he does this he'll seek to get the maximum return for a minimum investment, which means he'll spend precisely fuck all on making Rangers vaguely competitive and will settle for finishing second to Shellick year after year after year. If you imagine this will somehow make the SPL 'more competitive' or return Rangers to the status of a genuine rival to Celtic, you are mistaken. Ashley isn't interested in competing whatsoever. He wants to sell more tracksuit tops. That's it. With no serious rival in the foreseeable future, the SPL will continue to be a procession and Celtic will get weaker and weaker as the level they require to win year after year after year without competition continues to fall.

Remember - the FCB has been in charge of NUFC for over seven years. Other than his original investment to buy the club he has invested precisely ZERO pounds of his own money. Not a fucking shekel. Why the fuck will he do so at Rangers FC? he already owns the naming rights to Ibrox, the copyright over the club logo and badge and all ownership of club merchandise. Total cost to Mike? £2m. He's already up and that suits him just smashing. He'll get that £2m back inside twelve months simply by sacking 'superfluous' staff.

Alternatively, Fat Mike sees that he can sell even more trackie tops if his minty sports shops can be advertised in the Champions League and, knowing he only has to outperform one rival for the rest of forever to achieve complete, annual access to this lucrative market he decides to break entirely with tradition and spends £30m on turning Rangers into the dominant team in Scotland. Celtic are in no fit state to compete and would shortly become just another Scottish also-ran (think Liverpool FC in the face of Chelshit and Shitty) while the FCB eleven wins everything in Scotland year after year after year, parading endless baubles around the Ibrox-Sports Direct Arena. What little competition left in Scotland evaporates overnight as no-one is willing to throw money at Celtic in competition with Britain's wealthiest entrepreneur.

Both of these scenarios are much, MUCH worse than the present situation.

Ashley wouldn't have to spend his own money to get Rangers competitive with Celtic again though - they've got just as many (more) fans up here who'll buy season tickets, strips, hospitality packages etc if he can just get them into the SPL again and on some sort of even, financial keel. I mean thats all Celtic have really done to achieve temporary dominance, just run things tight and not go bankrupt through wild financial incompetence. There's not allot of catch up to do really.

That's precisely what he thinks and what I expect him to do. But don't expect him to make Rangers 'competitive' again. He won't. He has no interest whatsoever in football, or competitive sport, except in how much money he can make. He'll make an absolute fortune out of Rangers but I doubt they'll play in the Champions League under his tenure - at the very best he'll fund them sufficiently to keep them at the same low level Celtic are at now.

You'll get to beat them a few times a season again but with no real competition the present shite standard at Shellick and in the SPL generally will be continued, indefinitely.

Football - the Mike Ashley way:

Treat club legends in a disgusting manner so that they sue you. In Court, openly admit that senior club officials lied to fans to keep them onside:
    http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2009/oct/02/kevin-keegan-newcastle-united-arbitration-panel

Pretend that your family are 'not safe' and so you are selling up (still here six years later. Number of attacks on Ashley's family? Nil):
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...lub-angry-fans-make-dangerous-kids-games.html

Spend fuck all and tell everyone that's the plan:
    http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/mike-ashley-announces-nufc-cash-1414705

Deliberate strategy to lose cup ties:
    http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-articles/newcastle-united-admit-cup-competitions-are-not-a-priority/

Publicly announce that popular manager is safe in his job and that his contract will be renegotiated at the end of the season. Sack him five weeks later:
    http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/engla...nited-insist-chris-hughtons-job-as-manager-is
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/9261212.stm

Conduct 'research' which proves that trying to win cup games might relegate the club:
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...snub-cups-safeguard-Premier-League-place.html

Obliterate commercial revenue by not advertising any space within the stadium, instead installing s****s direct logos all over the stadium, generating no cash for the club but which is 'very beneficial' to s****s direct:
    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/after-five-years-silence-newcastle-4197405

Rename famous sports stadia so they look like a shit website to further 'the brand':
    http://www.theguardian.com/football/2009/nov/04/newcastle-united-naming-stadium-rights
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...Direct-Arena-Newcastle-owner-Mike-Ashley.html
    http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/club/boundarypark/

Take official club shops and place them under the s****s direct umbrella, putting staff on zero hour contracts and ploughing revenue out of the club and into Ashley's pockets:
    http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-art...ports-direct-when-you-buy-from-the-club-shop/

    Rangers fans must be delighted.

Maybe Ashley's ownership will put end to sectarianism in Scotland as Celtic fans will stand side by side with Rangers supporters. :l3:

they begin "collections" proceedings followed by credit reporting

Basically I have to call them and see if I can pay a little bit per month

I don't have $791 to just throw around, I work for a living

This is a big part of what I do for a living, ironically... Of course, I'm seen as somewhat "radical" because I try to work with poor people so they can actually pay their bills rather than just threatening to ruin them financially

    Exactly!

I'm taking this $791 from the huge amounts of money I've saved as a result of not being under the boot of the Government!

(no, seriously... this shit is ridiculous, can't you guys do something? couldn't a bunch of you move here and agitate for an American NHS??)

Thanks to this huge bill, I met my yearly $1000 deductible... Otherwise, I'd be paying the hospital's fees as well (my bill is solely for the dude who checked on me a few times) ... The hospital bill was over $1000

Shit day at work so thought I'd cheer myself up with five minutes of watching this genius smash loads of nets in:
