Like to see him fight stevenson. But it's not going to happen.

    Ward probably won't happen either.

    So who does he fight?

You sound like someone going out of their way (beyond logic's bounds) to discredit kovalev. Why is that?

Nobody's saying he's the greatest. Nobody's calling him an all time great.

but he made easy work of hopkins and stopped nine guys in a row before that. Sorry bud but our interest is piqued.

    I'd pay to see that.

With GGG vs Khan as the undercard.

I started a thread. Ward is who I'd like to see Kov fight next.

    Fuck that bum Stevenson.

Agreed, Ward. Don't really care about Stevenson, not really interested in seeing him against anyone. Plus Kovvles would beat him easy.

Kovalev Vs Ward is a very interesting fight.

It is but is it realistic? I don't think it is. At least not anytime soon.

Thread title states next, not in the near future.

That would seemingly eliminate Ward or Stevenson. At 175 for "names" there is Pascal or Bute. For 168 you have Froch, Sturm or Joonyuh. Unlikely any of those 5 will sign to meet him so it will probably be somebody most of us haven't head of. I don't think Kov will care. He just had the biggest win of his career, can blast somebody else out as a follow-up and let everybody else tread water and try to find more excuses not to face him.

I'd like to see Jurgen Brähmer in there with him. Of course, that will never happen since Brähmer is quite happy to hold his WBA lt heavyweight title (well, one of them) and face the dangerous challenges of Gabriel Bolonti, Maccarinelli and the Polish guy who nearly lost to shot Roy Jones Jr, all in his home ring where he is called the champion of the world. These are also the reasons why I'd like to see the fight.

Best would be Ward. Next best Stevenson. Since neither will happen, I guess Pascal

That'd be hilarious if Stevenson prices himself out of a fight with pascal, and then pascal instead fights and is demolished by kov. What will Stevenson do then?

Same thing every ducking fighter does, make excuses.

Kovalev needs 24/7 steroid testing, he has to take the low end of the purse, he has to wear certain gloves, he has to leave his promoter ...

I'd like to see Kovalev-Pascal, at least it's a name. If he cleans out "the best of the rest" then Stevenson should be shamed into fighting him.

The bad thing for Adonis is, Kovalev already agreed to take the lower purse and to fight at Stevenson's home turf, yet he wasn't interested. But yeah, there are still excuses to be made. Maybe Stevenson will go on to unify the title with the other real champion Brähmer

Also, Pascal and Stevenson are good friends. Remember when he was on the same card as Kovalev and made all that noise about wanting to fight Froch or Hopkins to avenge Pascals losses? Wonder if he'll do the same if Kovalev sparks JP?

Yet JoM still insists he wasn't ducking him, he just wasn't well known enough to be worth Stevenson's while, unlike Sukhotsky :laugh11:

nah, they're not really friends. Pascal has tried to make the fight recently, challenging Stevenson andcalling him a coward.

You're really turinig into an irrevelant buffoon recently.

First of all, only idiots think that Stevenson ducked Kovalev. Stevenson signed with showtime cause the money was better. Sure as a fan, it was disapointing that the Kov fight didn't happened at that time, but they was a perfectly good reason for it not happening. At the time fighting Kovaslev wasn't making any sense financially for Stevenson. also, Stevenson is not a young guy, so it would have been stupid for him to not take the best financial offer. All the poster who fails to understand this don't really deserves to be take seriously, as they let their emotions cloud their judgement or don't understand the financial aspect of boxing.

Secondly, what I said is that at the time, I felt that the fight was happening too soon, since Kovalev was still an unkown and had beaten no one. It wouldn't have been a superfight cause only hardcore fans cared about Kovalev. The fight would be much bigger now since Kovalev made a name for himself by destroying bhop.

Thirdly, I've been the first to blame sudosky (or however the fuck his name is spelled) fight, and called it a waste of time. What's incomprehensible is that Pascal was willing to take the fight, but they couldn't secure a financial deal (though to Stevenson camp defense, Pascal is notoriously hard to work with. Yvon Michel even dropped Pascal after his bg win against Bute cause he said it was too hard to work with him). Stevenson 2014 year has been really disapointing, after the insane 2013 he had. He really has to turn it up in 2015, or fade into complete irrevelancy. He also have to fight Kovalev eventually if he want to have a decent legacy.

for whatever it's worth, Yvon Michel said during the Kovalev-Hopkins broadcast that he was convinced that Kov would try to make a pascal fight, since he would be the biggest name available in the division. Though, rumours in montreal says that Stevenson-Pascal might be next.

Stevenson ducked him, simple as that. It's almost like saying Floyd didn't duck Pacquiao, you mook.
