I reckon Shearer is a secretly hard bastard, he didn't back down from Keane when Roy got in his face. He won't start trouble, but don't bring trouble, innit!

One of the hosts on NBCSN (The channel that shows 95% of the matches in the US now) said that Southampton would definitely get relegated this season.

    That was a good call.

that was a really retarded thing to say, considering how many quality players they signed.

Not that it has much to do with being handy with your fists, but Shearer was fairly bullish in build... Solid, pretty robust, I'd imagine he was quite strong

incidentally, Keane's in the news for a dust up with an autograph seeker

There is a locally accepted story which goes something like 'after NUFC lost the 2005 FA Cup semi-final to Taggart's mob, Bellamy (who had been loaned out to LFC) text Shearer and called him a "useless old cunt". Shearer then drove to Anfield and text Bellamy back, asking him to say the same thing to him in the car park. Bellamy got the police to move Shearer on'.

    That's the story.

Shearer is reputedly a bit of a hard cunt. On a pre-season tour to Ireland, Keith Gillespie threatened to lay Shearer out after a few too many beers all round. Shearer apparently knocked him spark out and left him lying in the street. When he was manager of NUFC, Joey Barton got sent off and Shearer berated him in the dressing room. Barton appranetly called Shearer 'an overrated cunt', to which Shearer responding by choking Barton out. He had to be held back by about four blokes, apparently.

Loads, and I do mean loads, of BBC and SKY-shite 'experts' said the same thing. They were being tipped by all and sundry to go down.

You could tell by the way he used to physically manhandle big, strong centre-halves how strong Shearer was. He was a tough bastard, no doubt.

Well MTF, Ah suppose there's a lesson in all that... dinnae call Shearer an auld c*nt.

The Slice is right - Ah alsa believe he is one o' those tough as teak types as he has the North Eastern (Sooth Western tae me) popeye forearms (tae fit more tattoos on) and used tae regularly leave defenders wi' bruises AND get the referee decisions more often than no'.

As an aside, imagine if Fightbeaters went tae settle a score every time they were called a fud on here... Ye'd need tae be a professional fitba player tae afford the petrol!

Young people these days don't respect the generations before them. Sometimes they need a stern reminder that they're not invincible.

I always thought Shearer looked like one of the hardest players around. Big forearms, thick neck, really beefy but no useless beach muscle. Him vs Keane would be an interesting fight i think.

Keane is such a nutter

Scotland are slight favourites ahead of tomorrow's big game against Eire.

Keeping it classy but the title is wrong. That's not a Sunderland fan getting wiped on. It's another Evetonian wearing our old pink away kit.

It's actually why the want to come to the U.S. They just don't get enough MLS coverage down there.

Definitely... They prefer the inferior MLS to the Mexican Primera division... Proper big clubs like Chicago Fire and Chivas USA

They also love the unique twist Taco Bell puts on Mexican food but they can't get it down there.
