Agreed, titles are meaningless. Barrera was the featherweight champion and Pacquiao stomped the shit out of him.

If that's the case, then let's see him fight a REAL talent in Crawford, instead of that yuppie bum he's fighting tomorrow.

The way Pacquiao has been fighting recently, it might actually take someone as small as Donaire for Manny to register a KO.

I originally thought Pacquiao would KO this yuppie bum easily, but now I don't think so.

He seems just about big enough, tough enough, and annoying enough to last the distance with today's tame Pacquiao.

Just goes to show who's calling the shots in boxing. TR and GBP. Otherwise, why the fuck would Manny be considering moving down to 135 or even 140? It's as if all ttat top competition at 147 doesn't even exist.

Meanwhile, Bradley, who barely belongs at 147 is going to move to 154 possibly?

These promoters and managers have too much power. This is getting to be WWF-esque with this shit.

He didn't say his health was more important than money when talking about Pac, he said it was more important than money in reference to fighting guys who were using PEDs

Did you see the video that was posted a few months ago bout Floyd ducking Pac? Pac accepted all of Floyd's conditions, yet Floyd refused to fight him. Floyd was clearly talking about Pac when he said that his health his more important than money. He said he would rather quit boxing than put his life in danger. Floyd is scared of Pac period !!!

He said that specifically in the context of fighting a guy who was juiced. He said he wouldn't fight him unless he agreed to WADA style doping testing. I guess yall musta forgot when Pac was afraid of needles, was going to be weakened by a blood sample, etc etc etc.

Floyd's the better fighter, so I say Floyd. Pac's run from 122-130 was unquestionably great, until he got outboxed by past-his-prime Morales & showed up looking like a different fighter in the rematch. Post-130? Meh.

Floyd's Better HEAD TO HEAD, but Pac's the Greater Fighter...Funny Thing is, if Floyd FELT he was Better Head to Head, he'd have Faced Pac Several YEARS Ago, by Now & This Thread would Be Moot...

As is, Manny has the Superior RESUME & has Racked Up Titles/Lineage @ Faaaaaaaar More Weight Classes...Pac has Also Looked Faaaaaaaaaaar More Dominant Against All but 1 Common Opponent...When You Add in the FACT Floyd is Blatantly DUCKING Manny, REED Can't See how ANYBODY Could Rank him HIGHER than Pac, All Time...

The Post-Roy Jones Era of Boxing Consisted of 2 Men; Floyd Mayweather & Manny Pacquiao...1 of them was Willing to Do Anything it Took the MAKE THE Biggest Fight in History Happen, the Other was Willing to Do Anything it Took to PREVENT THE Biggest Fight in History from Happening...As Such, the Unwilling Entity SHOULD have his Legacy Rightfully Tarnished & Held in Lesser Regard...

    Manny Pacquiao > Floyd Mayweather

Post 130 Pacquiao is one of the greatest runs in boxing of all time, I am honestly shocked anyone disagrees. Especially a guy like cdogg who knows the game, and a fellow Duran fan in loadedgloves.

It was unprecedented for a guy Pacquiao's size to move up to WW and start slapping good fighters around like red headed stepchildren.

Not just the whole Pacquiao thing, but back in 2007/2008 when the welterweight division was getting competitive (Not like the 90s, but it had picked up), Floyd conveniently announced his "retirement," stating something about "No longer having the desire to fight." He obviously felt threatened to a degree about the fact that guys like Tall Paul, Cotto, Margarito, and others were coming for him and he knew there would be pressure to get in the ring with them, and he wanted none of it.

What makes it sad is that Floyd would probably have beaten all those guys, but he obviously didn't feel that way 100%.

Agreed on all counts. Floyd is a bitch, basically, and he has cherry picked his way around since Castillo. I would also pick Floyd against almost all the guys he's avoided, but that doesn't excuse it.

Even if you think Floyd is a better fighter, I see no argument at all that he is a historically greater fighter than Pacquiao.

you know what's so annoying? i honestly honestly think this fight has always been somewhat of a mismatch..Floyd is just on a higher level.. but for him to say dumb stuff about how "my health is more important" and be worried about pac being on drugs etc.. just makes him look like a bitch.

IMO floyd (skill wise) i rank up there very high.. but i can't put him up there with Ray Leonard etc. unless he whups Pac..

he SHOULD come out and say.. "I don't care if they test or not.. i'll whup him"

it makes Floyd look bad to say any reason for not fighting, i think floyd whups pac 10-10 times..

Floyd is not on a higher level at all. He needed 2 goes just to clearly beat Madonna.

Even today's more tame Pacquiao stands a better chance against Floyd than anyone else at these weights, and Floyd knows it, hence the lack of fight happening.

For some reason you just don't like Pacquiao. He's an amazing fighter, even today's version.

They are both undeniably great fighters. They are 2 of the most effective fighters I've ever seen.

But Pacquiao will go down as the historically greater, more accomplished fighter.

A fighter should never, ever be criticized for wanting stricter drug controls put on a fight. The only response that makes sense for a clean fighter is 'Okay, you pay for it and you do it, too.' That's it.

"recognized" champion. Haha, yeah, right. That's not a title. Let's count abc belts when we want to, but ignore them when they are inconvenient.

Not sure if cbitchh's insecurity complex is cuter because he can't get over it or because it's warranted? Hmmmm. Close call.

Honestly, that Is not true at all..

I'm a big fan, I have quite a few Filipino friends and I really like manny.
I just think from a pure boxing standpoint FLOYD is an excellent fighter, not that PAC isn't but FLOYD IMO is on a level that not many get to. From a kid going into pro from amateurs he has been excellent. It bothers me a bit how such a likable good kid became such an unlikeable character.

I really like PAC, I like him better than FLOYD actually, I just think Floyd is a better boxer and it's annoying whatever the reason that we the fans didn't get to see them fight.

IMO I still have Floyd a step down from SRL who is probably my fav ever (along with Ali )

Pacquiao's post-130 run is the most overblown, under-scrutinized period of any fighter's career in history, or at least in the 50 or so years since intelligent critique became an accepted part of sport journalism.
