There's a massive drop off in quality between the original films and the three prequels... Anybody who disagrees probably doesn't care about things like acting, dialogue, intelligent plot development, etc.

Please. lets not talk about acting when discussing Hamil. The original 3 were cheesy and had some instances of bad acting too. But because it was revolutionary, people let it pass.

I could never get over how Hamil was destroyed on screen by a puppet. Even as a kid I noticed it.

So we have Levar Burton from Reading Rainbow dressed as a stormtrooper, some chick flying a giant USB flash drive, and what will apparently be the Star Wars equivalent of a Minion in some beach ball droid.

    Can't wait.

Hamil is legitimately comparable to Marlon Brando compared to Hayden Christensen

Anyone who watches the prequels and the original films and sees them as being of similar quality is the type of dullard who thinks Nicolas Cage is a good actor

I think the problem with the prequels isn't that they were bad, it's that they should have been so much better. But the dialogue was terrible, and the acting with the exception of Christopher Lee and a lesser extent Liam Neeson was so wooden and awful, in many scenes it looked like they were reading their lines for the first time off of cue cards. Samuel Jackson was so bad, and out of place, and the douchebag who played Anakin just made everyone watching him want to punch him in the face. Then of course we have Jar Jar and the Gungans, far too many droids and just way too much CGI.

The story was there, the execution just was terrible.

    This^

Although I'd argue that at least in the case of the first prequel, even the story was a fucking shambles

IMO the problem was that George Lucas started the prequels with Anakin as a boy and then as a teenager to finish with him as a young adult becoming Darth Vader. All that was unnecessary. The prequels should had started with 'Episode 1: Revenge of The Sith', continue with a smashing 'Episode 2: Vader Attacks' and finish with the operative from the Rebels that stole the Death Star plans titled something like 'Episode 3: Birth of The Rebellion'. That was the storyline every SW fan was salivating to see on the screen. Instead we got 'This Boy's Life'.

let's not forget that little kid that played Anakin...I know that most child actors are terrible but wtf, he was the worst

Bottom line the prequels sucked no sense trying to sugar coat it.

Revenge of the sith is arguably the third best film of the whole series so far.

That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. I thought it was just as shitty and unwatchable as the first 2 prequels. It wasn't like The Matrix trilogy where you had 1 great film and 2 crappy ones. All 3 of the prequels were equally shitty and all for the same reasons, most of which were mentioned by TFK. After I saw the first 2 I thought Sith would actually be good because of where the story was headed. Wrong! It was just as bad, and even though there are tons of ways I can show many people share that opinion, I'm not going to sit here and try to cast it off as a fact that it sucked.

More like 1 great film...One half crappy one and one which master copies should be destroyed and never spoken of again.

The guy that played Anakin is arguably the worst actor in cinematic history.

All you have to do is go to Rottentomatoes and see what Sith Got compared to the first two prequels. Clearly many people though it was a much better movie.

In that his poor acting was only an act?

Some directors like to direct their actors to say things a certain way or act a certain way. Lucas is one of those directors.

No in that he's a better actor than what he showed in Star Wars. He wasn't that bad in a couple other movies I've seen him in.

I was being facetious and haven't seen his other movies. It's pretty hard to imagine him being worse though. I'm not an actor and even I realize that doing everything on green screen isn't exactly an environment for great work.

Only thing really being judged here is his acting in Star Wars. Poor circumstances or not his acting was shit. When you wrap it all up it doesn't matter as it wasn't only his performance that was sub par. The prequels were all lousy for a variety of reasons. Put the best actor you can name in that role and it only would have made the films marginally better. All that could be said was "the guy who played Vader was decent but the movie sucked".

revenge of the sith was a good movie. And im not even a big star wars fan. That movie was very good. And most critics and people that saw it agree.
