The whole thing is cringe worthy, but Christopher Walken singing and dancing as Captain Hook with this blank expression on his face like saying to himself 'this is the end of my career...what the hell I'm doing here?' and delivering his lines like a Walken impersonator, is just hilarious.

Why is Peter Pan always played by a woman?

Probably because you need somebody the size of a jockey to play him.

It is a tradition for live plays going all the way back to the very first stage production in 1904. The director of that first theater production told the author of the book that he wanted to do two changes: that the play be titled 'Peter Pan' instead of The Great White Father like the author titled it and that Pan be played by a young woman since at that time England's laws prohibited children under age 14 to work on stage after 9:00PM. The gender switch was done and hasn't been altered since except for movies.

By the way kudos to the producers for using an actress of Native American descend to play Tiger Lilly for the first time.

Well he is supposed to be like an overgrown little boy, so I guess someone with a soft face and high pitched voice is preferred

Well in the upcoming movie PAN they cast a real boy, but again Tiger Lily is a Caucasian actress.
