Because he'd never be able to beat Gaybox. Gaybox is a different level of fighter. And though LeMoo was impressive against Rosado, it's hard to imagine him getting THAT much better, into elite tier like Gaybox. If that fight is on the table, LeMoo should take it. And like REED said, it wouldn't exactly be surprising if he lost to someone scrubby in the meantime, he couldn't even beat Rubio, a guy who Gaybox just treated like a red headed stepchild.
Maybe, but if he has improved (at least it appeared to me it he has) then I think it would be smarter in the long run to build on that. Just because he wouldn't be favoured against GGG doesn't mean he would have nothing to lose. If he's reached his peak? Indeed he should go after that match.
And honestly, at this point, this fight does nothing for GGG. While Lemieux looked good, it was only Rosado.
This goes back to an earlier thread I made. What can Golov do? I wanna see him move up to 168, but theres only TWO meaningful fights for him at 168; Ward, and Froch. Ward is fighting in court, and Froch wants Chavez then retirement. The MOST significant fight for Golov at 160 would be Cotto. And team Cotto wants no parts of Golov. So, in a way, Lemeiux is probably the most compelling REALISTIC fight for Golov at the moment. So, I'd like to see it.
You Say that as if GGG has CLEANED OUT 160 & has a Resume Full of QUALITY Opposition???...He's NOT Really in a Position to PASS on a Guy like Lemieux, Coming Off an Impressive, High Profile, HBO Televised Win... Fighting Lemieux Does NATHAN for Guys like Cotto or Canelo, Understandably....Sorry, but GGG Is NOT On That Level, in Terms of Being a CONSISTENT Draw, Accomplishments OR Resume...What Did Wins Over Geale, Proksa, Macklin & Others DO for GGG, Exactly???.... REED:dunno:
THIS.... If GGG Doesn't Want to Move Up to '68, Fine...But If there's a WILLING Participant @ '60, ie., Lemieux, GGG Simply CANNOT Scoff @ the Notion of Facing Him... REED:wrong:
Exactly my point Lemieux would not be a better win than those guys. Hence, it will do nothing for GGG. He should be chasing guys like Cotto or Canelo at 160, not Lemieux. Or move to 168
Lemieux Would Be AS GOOD of a Win, Currently, as ANY Of those Names Were, in REED's Opinion... Cotto Will NEVER Fight GGG & REED Doesn't Blame Him...Canelo Will ONLY Fight GGG AFTER he's Faced Cotto 1st AND Milked a Couple Easy Title Defenses...It'll Be 2016 by the Time Canelo Got Around to Facing GGG, Who Would Be Approaching 34 Years of Age By That Point... agREED, GGG Should Move Up to '68, but his Legion of Male Concubines FEAR What Would Happen to Him, a Mere 8lbs North....So Does his Management, Apparently... REED:mj:
Agreed. People do need to put this win in perspective. Rosado is not a good fighter. He lost his previous 3 fights, hasn't won a fight in over 2 years. A win over LeMook means no more than blasting out an Australian like Geale.
golovkin has opponents at middleweight in Lemieux and the winner of next saturdays fight. no reason to move up
Lemeiux is a better fighter than Geale, Stevens, and Macklin. And yes, he's matured since the Rubio loss. Hes still not good enough to beat GGG, but he'd be a credible win.
agREED. A fight with LePew should be the focus for GGG. If anything, a good win over LePew would set him up for a move to 168. At least he could say he was finally in with a guy who can punch. Granted LePew is garbage and has a shaky chin but at least he's a good puncher.
Just read that Froch is close to retirement if he can't land a Vegas fight. Either with Chavez Junior, or another opponent. If that be the case, then HOPEFULLY HBO will try to push a GGG vs Froch fight in Vegas. Between GGG's fan base, and Froch's UK fan base coming over to the states, it's a fight I think would do VERY WELL in Vegas.
Ward must be butt hurt knowing that he's one of the 3 best fighters in the world, yet no one cares that he's MIA.
Wayy too soon to tell Gela has beaten better fighter than emieux did and Macklin koed the same Alcine that has just beaten Lemieux in about 10 seconds. Yes Lemieux probably have improved since then, but calling him better than those guys based on a win over Rosado, is premature
Well yeah, you can argue Macklin is better. I'm comfortable in saying Lemeiux is better than Geale and Stevens though. None of those have the power DL has though. That's the only thing that makes it a compelling fight.
Honestly, i'd like to see Geale against Lemieux. While he has no power, Geale would fight him toe to toe, and would land a lot of leather on Lemieux. It should be an excellent fight, and if Lemieux prevails, it would proved that he's elite. I think Geale beats him though. And i'd argue that stevens power is as good as Lemieux. Lemieux power is overrated. He has really good hand speed and explosion though.
I think LeMoo clearly hits harder than Stevens. However, I'd probably pick Geale and Macklin over LeMoo, though he'd have a decent chance against either. Like JOM said, in his very next fight after beating LeMoo, Alcine got KO'd in a round by Macklin. Even if you give LeMook the benefit of the doubt of having improved, you couldn't be confident of his chances against Geale or Macklin.
Yeah I think you're right. From what I've seen of him post Gaybox, he didn't look good, and he just got KO'd by a random Argentinian with a 40% KO ratio.
Pretty sure he doesn't care what anyone thinks. Shows how screwed up boxing is. A piece of shit like Floyd gets top dollars and Ward, who by all appearances seems like a decent guy, gets stick. Ward isn't less entertaining than Floyd is.
Floyd is a piece of shit human being. We all know that. And AT THIS POINT, I really could care less about watching any Floyd fight that's not a Pac fight. However, I'd rather watch a PRIME Floyd over Ward 7 days of the fucking week. Watching a prime Floyd was highly compelling, as you were witnessing a truly special talent operating at an absurd skill level. Watching Ward is like watching a guy who wants to be half Hopkins, half Jones, yet isn't as good as either one was in their primes.
That's not to diminish Ward. He's an excellent technician, and future HOFmer. But he's not a generational type fighter the way Floyd was. The fact that Ward's a good guy, and Floyd's a scumbag doesn't change that.
