I'll presume this is sarcasm, considering Shearer has managed and wanted to continue, except the FCB fucked him off.

No...he waited until Newcastle were fucked {granted, this was not of his making} then he came in to "Save them", predictably failed, but made sure he did not come in early enough that he might be deemed responsible.

He has since applied for............................no managerial posts.

He works for the BBC and sits, Lord Shearer of the Bailey, in Judgment on All and Sundry, with fellow House Queers Lord Linker, Lord Lawrenson, Master Neville and Baron Drunkenhaus Hamann.

You've missed out an incredibly important middle of the story.

Shearer was in charge when Newcastle went down. Hardly his fault - the ship was utterly sunk long before he was asked to start hoying buckets of water overboard. However, he was only given a contract until the end of the season though he was told he could stay if he chose to, relegation or no. After this expired, he told the FCB that he would stay in charge. He asked for a new contract. He provided a list of players he wanted sold and wanted bought. Llambias, the new CE at Ibrox and then CE at NUFC, ignored him completely. No-one had a fucking clue what was going on and NUFC essentially had no manager for about two months. Shearer then called Llambias and the FCB out in the local press, asking for a telephone call at least to tell him what the fuck was happening. Still nothing happened; Llambias completely ignored him. Newcastle started pre-season without a manager and lost 1-6 at Leyton Orient. Reserve coach Chris Hughton was placed in temopary charge of first team affairs. Still no-one confirmed what was happening with Shearer, so he went to SJP and asked to speak directly to the FCB. The FCB refused and, not long after, renamed the bar at SJP to 'Nine' from 'Shearers'. Shearer took the hint and fucked off.

Now, I'm not Shearer's biggest fan. He's an arrogant cunt and a woeful pundit. But there is no doubt whatsoever that he wanted to stay at NUFC and equally he was utterly ignored by the FCB and his lackies.

Also, wasn't he interviewed for the Ipswich job a few years back but overlooked for Irish Mick?

You might be right about Ipswich.

I maintain he wanted no part of Newcastle......it's easy for him to say "I've heard nothing".

They never called his bluff, is how I see it.

Maybe you are correct, it could be all perfectly true....but I just see a man who is very happy being a pundit.

Nah. The version of events I outlined above is precisely how it went down. It was pretty much confirmed during the tribunal case Keegan brought against those clowns. I read the judgement. They openly admitted to 'deliberately misleading fans for publicity purposes' (i.e. telling massive fucking lies).

I went a couple of times yeah but they'd give you a few filings of meat and a big bowl of rice and charge you 12 quid for it so i moved on. I can't speak from hugely wide experience but that often seems to be the way with 'authentic' east asian places - the places that i've been with Chinese writing on the window where all the chinese in that area eat have been similar. There's a jackson Chinese place round the corner though.... Roast duck with green pepper and black bean with huge servings of duck - proper food, no msg

Hey. This is true actually, i think. I'm not bright but i've read widely and to the extent of my very limited, drunken competence, I think this is basically the thing. 'The golden age of capitalism' happened, more than for any other reason, because governments spent so much during WW2 that aggregate private debt, relative to income, was reduced to such low levels that it could trend up again for 50 odd years & drive aggregate demand while remaining serviceable. But eventually it becomes unservicable in aggregate because in essence its a ponzi scheme - the increased income streams needed to service the interest rely on other people taking out new loans. Its all just balance sheets, it isn't real life - ultimately these are political decisions. Happened to Japan 20 years earlier than anyone else for the same reason it was the most successful economy in the world for 30 years - its corporate sector was the most highly leveraged/'irrationally exuberant'. Then it hit the wall and had to repair its balance sheets. Thats literally all this is, numbers on balance sheets.
