Even the Way Jones Kept DUCKING DOWN Into Cormier's Punching Range, Seemed "Deranged", as You Say...He's Clearly Taking the Time to PROVE Things About Himself, within Each Fight...

Jones May or May Not Reach his Goal of Being Regarded as "THE Best Martial Artist EVER", but he's Certainly TRYING to Attain It...It's as if he's Checking All the Boxes, of Things a Fighter of that Ilk Needs to Illustrate...

    Chin???...Check...Wrestling???...Check...Striking???...Check...Ground Game???...Check...Grappling???...Check...

Jones Checks A NEW Box w/Each Outing...

    disagREED Somewhat...

Jones' OVERALL Striking is Superb, in REED's Opinion...Dude Throws LEAD Left Elbows like they're JABS...His Spinning Back Elbow Bailed Him Out vs. Gustaffson...His Knees, Flying Knees, Low Kicks, High Kicks, Mid-Range Kicks, Back Kicks, Spinning Kicks & Heel Kicks are Top Knotch as Well...

Dude Is a GOOD Striker, Taking ALL Strikes Into Consideration...

It's Jones' PUNCHING, ie., his BOXING that's Below Average...Gustaffson Didn't OutSTRIKE Jones, but he Definitely OutBOXED Him...w/his Length, Jones Needs to Work on a Basic 1-2 Combo, in REED's Opinion...Jab-Right Hand or Southpaw 1-2...

It's THE One Thing that Stands Out to REED, Absent from Jon Jones' Arsenal...

Jones Seems DEDICATED Enough to His Craft to Make Improvements in that Regard...

Add a BOXING Coach (as Opposed to Just a "Striking Coach") to the Mix & the Sky Would LITERALLY Be Jon Jones' Limit...

Jones striking can improve yet his creativity and range have allowed him to out strike everyone he's every fought. Keep in mind that the list of opponents that he's out landed includes slick strikers like Machida and Gustaffson.

I think Jones has the perfect striking for MMA. There is nothing predictable or telegraphed about anything he throws . And he uses every possible weapon.

On a side note, he added some painful body kicks to his arsenal last night. Jones continues to add new wrinkles to his striking.

Jones' striking is superb. I agree with Boss, his boxing is not, but that's about the only thing is his entire game that could be significantly better and it doesn't need to be since he can do so many other things so well.

However, Jones is not unbeatable. His chin is getting checked more often lately than it did in the past. Just like everyone else, he'll lose. And I suspect he'll lose in the next 3 or 4 fights. The UFC doesn't give their champs many easy fights.

For a guy with arms that long, it looks more dangerous than anything. He has a lot of faith in his joints to do that. I've never tried one of those because I'd be worried about coming down on my head. LOL. If he curtsied afterwards, then I would agree with you.

Sure, but it's the boxing that keeps him from being a truly elite striker. His punches are slow and telegraphed.

I agree he's a good striker like I said, but I think his boxing prevents him from being a great one like prime Silva.

Luckily for him, his excellent elbows and little kicks to the knees give his opponents plenty to think about, and prevent him from being outboxed easily.

Still, I do think Gustaffson outstruck him overall.

If he had the perfect MMA striking I don't think he would have been outboxed by Gus, and fought almost on even terms with Cormier in the standup parts of the fight.

Man, Cormier sounds like he should be on suicide watch in that post-fight interview with Ariel Helwani on the Fox aftershow.

Jones out landed Gustaffson in standing strikes so it's a wide stretch to claim Alex out boxed him.

And there were very few parts of the fight with Cormier where he boxed with Jones on even terms.

However, "perfect striking" is a wrong word choice. I think he has the ideal striking style for MMA. My bad.

Basically everything Sherdog posted on their front page, but he just looked like he could barely lift his head, and when he did, he looked like he had been crying.

One thing i notice the media is doing is claiming jones dominated the fight. This was hardly a domination. This was a good fight with back and forth action.

It wasn't a domination but Jones won clearly. It was a close fight after 3 rounds, but rounds 4 and 5 were all Jones.

Still though, even in rounds 4 and 5, it wasn't like Daniel was getting battered from pillar to post. So either way, I think a domination is an exaggeration, yeah.

This fight was life defining for Daniel and it defined him as a little fat failure. (Not in my eyes)

    agREED...

COMPETITIVE Bout for Certain, but a CLEAR Win for Jones, Nonetheless...Cormier Won Round 2 Clearly & MIGHT Have Earned a Draw in the 3rd...But He Clearly LOST Every Other Round & Jones FINISHED the Fight Much More Impressively...

Jones is already up there with all time p4p greats like Fedor and Anderson Silva. He might be remembered as the best of all time, not just the p4p best. He's only 27. He could reign at light heavyweight for years to come, or he could move up to go for the heavyweight title. He could easily be 240 and in shape if he wanted to fight at heavyweight.

Cowboy Cerrone is going to fight Benson Henderson on the 18th, stepping in for Eddie Alvarez. I wish more fighters had Cowboy's attitude. He fights 4 times a year and wants more. This will be his second big fight in 2 weeks.

Yeah, so much for Miles Jury, what a scrub.

He was obviously matched carefully, and Sanchez was even more shot than I thought, as he just ran away like an out of his depth scrub.

And you have to like a guy like Cerrone, fighting an elite fighter just 2 weeks later

Don't discount what I said previously about the loser of this fight being ruined going forward.

While it was far from domination, the method in which Jones beat Cormier ( grappling, out grinding, being tougher) that will permanently scare chubby.

You don't sport a "King of the Grind" shirt into the cage and then get out 'grinded' or market "Break Bones" shirts and then clearly be the guy that 'broke' without it seriously fucking you up.

I think Reed said it before but Cormier underestimated just how much of a hard ass Jon Jones is. You might knock the dude out but you ain't beating the dog out of him.
