from fightnews.com [h=2]Trainer of Champions Fritz Sdunek passes[/h]German media are reporting that legendary boxing trainer Fritz Sdunek has passed away at the age of 67 in a Hamburg hospital after suffering a heart attack. Sdunek trained Felix Sturm, Dariusz Michalczewski and both Klitschko Brothers during his storied career. Other champions he trained include Juan Carlos Gomez, Artur Grigorian, Zsolt Erdei, Ralf Rocchigiani, Koko Kovacs and Sebastian Zbik. Heavyweight contender Manuel Charr, another Sdunek fighter, confirmed the news on his Facebook page. Not that I've seen training in progress, but based on results and getting the most out of fighters' abilities, Sdunek is my pick for the best trainer of the 90's and 00's. All of the credit given to Manny for his work with Wlad was really just taking Sdunek's style for pre-titlist Vitali and applying it to Wladimir. I haven't seen a list, but I wouldn't be surprised if Sdunek has trained the most titlists over the past 20 years.
It will probably barely make a ripple of noise in the boxing world {USA}. Hope he gets a 10 bells at a big fight soon. Not the gratest trayner of are times but certainly a very very good one. His greatest attribute was probably realizing that VK knew more about HW boxing than he did and just let the big man get on with it.
Also a phenomenal cutman. His work with the Kiltschko's and Dariusz amongst others was proof (despite Lederman's inane protests) that you could treat cuts with Adrenaline 1/1000 properly and adeptly.
