The Theory of Eveything The true story of physicist genius Stephen Hawkings is told here mostly through the eyes of his first wife, you know the one that fell in love with him while he was still a nerdy college boy, married him despite knowing he had that degenerative progressive condition, fed him, cleaned his mess, served as secretary to write his bestseller book that put him in the map, refrained from being unfaithful while still in her prime burning with desire of a healthy cock just to finally get dumped by our hero with his first sophisticated pretty assistant. A true jerk with high IQ. Eddie Redmayne delivers a powerful performance as Hawkings which is a marvel to watch. Felicity Jones does an excellent job too as his devoted wife. The film itself is decent, but aside from the performances it has not much going on for it with minimal repeat viewing value. 8/10

I think his performance is overrated. He is only getting attention for how he portrayed hawkins when his condition worsened, which to me, really isn't acting. It's just an imitation. I actually think Michael Keaton and Bradley Cooper do it a better job

I think he is going to win it. While he does deserve it, so do others on that list. He will get it because he has never one it before and has been in hollywood awhile.

Cooper might win it if keaton doesnt.

Picking the best actor is such bullshit. Personally I enjoyed Carrell, Keaton and Cooper more than anything else I've watched in the last year. But I can't tell you which guy acted better.

The fact that Jake Gyllenhaal was not nominated for Nigthcrawler is a travesty. David Oyelowo was brilliant in Selma and was ignored too.

Oyelowo was good, but not brilliant.

it's a nice movie, pure Oscar bait though

and if you're also of the opinion that Hawking was always a pompous wanker, this movie won't change your mind

I've watched Nightcrawler since my previous post. It was amazing how Gyllenhaal pulled off being matter of fact creepy while never losing the whole barely hidden sociopath vibe.

Again, I'm not sure he was better at acting than the Oscar nominees but he was compelling to watch for sure.
