I was a fan of Rumble, and very high on him when I saw him dertroy Tom Speer, a million years ago. Thought he was a real threat to GSP. He was very dissapointing afterward, but it seems a lot of that had to do with him weightdraining so much
Rumble just ruined any interest in Gus-Jones II. Something tells me we will see Cormier-Rumble before Jones fights again.
I would say Cormier V Gus is more likely , both guys coming of a loss. Feel bad for Gus he deserved the title shot but he'll come again.
, at the pansy complaining about a late stoppage. Gustavson was always coherent, and only at the end did he seemed really out of it. It was a perfect stoppage
Rumble looks unstoppable since he quit trying to cut to welterweight. He definitely deserves the title shot.
Again, Jones' OVERALL Striking is Most Certainly Elite Level... Knees from the Clinch, Flying Knees, Low Kicks, High Kicks, Body Kicks, Spin Kicks, Elbows, etc...He's Got it ALL in his Repertoire...It's Jones' BOXING that's Subpar...Gustaffson OUTBOXED Jones that Night... Having Said That, if Jones is BALLSY (ie., DUMB) Enough to Try to Beat Rumble Johnson @ his Own Game, as he's Done w/Sooooo Many Others, it Could Be the END of his Reign...Jones is Superior to Johnson in EVERY OTHER Regard, but if he Foolishly Tries to Beat Johnson in a Stand-Up BOXING Match, Not Only Will Jones Struggle (as he Did w/Gustaffson), he'll Likely Get KO'ed... REED:scared2:
There's Obviously Other Fish for Jones to Fry @ the Moment, but REED STILL Thinks Gustaffson is OWED a RE @ Some Point... REED:hammert:
Yeah, that's What you Call a BEATDOWN... The 1st Shot that Hurt Gustaffson DIDN'T Even Land Clean, yet it was MORE than Powerful Enough to Start his Demise...Rumble Johnson in 4oz. Gloves is a SCARY, DAUNTING Task for Any 205'er in the World... Is There a HARDER, Single Shot Puncher in MMA, @ the Moment???...Dude Has Effortless, LiddellESQUE MMA Punching Power...When he HITS Guys, they Bitch Up, Get Dropped, Get KO'ed, or All of the Above... REED:hammert:
A.J, Alexander and D.C are the top 3 contenders to JJ for the foreseeable future. A.J will get his shot say by June 2015. In the meantime they SHOULD NOT match Alex and D.C. They should rather have them fight some fights to get them back up there and then have both rematch JJ. (Especially Alex) D.C wants a break so give him one and have D.C fight Rashad in the late summer. Throw Alex on the JJ/AJ undercard. Match Alex up with Bader. Alex wins easy and then we have Alex vs JJ 2 in Dec 2015. D.C beats Rashad in the summer. Then have D.C in turn fight on the JJ/Alex undercard and give him AJ or Glover or something. If D.C wins then you can do JJvs DC 2 in say April 2016. Now for all this to happen JJ has to beat both A.J and Alex convincingly, so there is no need to rematch those fights.
What kind of shocked me was that Rumble got eyepoked, and then he got amped up instead of letting it get to him. I was reminded of his "loss" to Kevin Burns when he got poked and couldn't see. I bet he was reminded of it as well because he launched a BOMB at Gus after that, and then he REALLY went to work on him. That kind of beating could ruin a career. Gus looked AWFUL at the end, laying there, covering up, and slowly getting his brains beat in.
